Many will mourn the loss of the officer, I think they should instead celebrate their life and sacrifice. Dying helping others is very possibly the best way any of us could go out. There's nothing to be sorrowful about other than the sadness such a wonderful human is no longer with us to do what many neglect. Shout out to that officer for giving everything he had for a legitimate cause, I tip my hat to you.

It went down from 3:15 - 3:30, 4:00 - 4:15, 5:00 - 5:15, and 7:00-7:15, and in between those, it went up a little. I think these are probably coinciding with them releasing water or something. People have been posting pics of the subdivisions getting flooded around that time, if I recall.

She swam/walked to safety, and a few minutes later while they were covering another area, they put a little side box of the reporter on the screen there catching up with her starting to interview her, like they were about to cut back to that story. Before they fully cut back to that, or gave it sound, in the little picture-in-picture box you see her answering the first question very emphatically/aggressively, waving her arms around in the air.

They instantly disappeared that box and never went back to that story again. It was probably a profanity laced nonsensical rant.

anecdotally, the water in my subdivision is down about a foot... I'm 4 blocks from the Bayou, 3 miles downstream from the reservoir The two blocks closest to it are still under though,

Very relieved that the rain has subsided and the city can start the recovery process.

If any of you feel inclined to buy one of the seemingly endless versions of a t-shirt that displays the solidarity of the city, as well as having 100% of the proceeds going towards relief, I like this one best so far:

I was at Mike Driscoll park, next to Brays Bayou, and I've never seen the pond that full before.

seeing the sun for a minute was such a nice feeling.

Completely ridiculous side note but 'strong' is Boston's thing, how about tough instead...?

Global warming hates Houston. Clearly ESPN is behind global warming.

DId anyone watch PBS in the late 80's early 90's the random houston video they'd play between dr. who and d.c. follies? Was it houston pride, or "Houston strong, proud of the things we do together..." I can hear either one.

Red Cross sucks. They have become a bloated organization that has become largely inefficient. Its almost as if they are trying to compete with FEMA.

Bridge gauges getting destroyed! A lot of the river flood forecasts based on potentially incorrect info.
