That is really good advice. Just adding a few things. 1. He's absolute right about tearing out the drywall and carpets. You also need to tear out any insulation that got soaked. When you do the demo wear a respirator and gloves. In addition to mold the flood waters carry a lot of toxins. In a flood like this you can mix of sewage, other waste, oils and heavy metals. There are both biological and other toxin in the water. Even the dust left over after the flood can be toxic if you ingest a lot of it. Just removing drywall and fiberglass insulation is dirty and dusty and you don't want to be inhaling a lot of that even without the flooding . 2. You need to disinfect the studs and and flooring. As he said there are many anti-mold formulations but otherwise you can use a solution of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. 3. You also need to disinfect and flush out your plumbing system. Clean off your faucets and toilets with bleach solution and make sure to run it awhile after water service comes back. 4. Airconditioning units might not be working but even if they are make sure to replace all your filters and it's probably a good idea to run it awhile before you go back to blow out any dust. 5. He's right that your fridge will be biohazard zone. Any food left over even stuff that wasn't submerged should probably be thrown out. Canned goods might be OK but disinfect the outside of them before using. 6. All of your clothes that was in your flooded house should be washed thoroughly in hot water and/or using oxyclean to disinfect. If you can dry them outside in the sun as sunshine is a natural disinfectant. Clothes that have been submerged in flood waters for a long time should be thrown out.
What about real hard wood flooring doing structural damage? Is that actually a possibility and would it be better to pull out a plank or two before they swell up to prevent everything from being busted out?

There's been three helicopters circling my neighborhood since this morning rescuing people from rooftops because it got very bad here overnight. The entrance to my subdivision is now underwater. It's like a boat ramp out here with about 5 airboats and 15 other smaller jon boats fetching people from a trailer park nearby.
