Statistically we are 17th in bullpen ERA. Maybe 18th after today. It's 4.18. The bullpen has been crap for some time. There is plenty of noise about it here in the game threads. Its a problem. Dodgers, yankees, cleveland, boston occupy the top 4 spots in bullpen rankings. We are 17. This is after the great 2 week stretch you point to.
While everybody has likely already ignored the idiot... his concerns on the bullpen aren't without some degree of validity. (Of course, he lacks any sort of ability to actually expand on his loud noises concerns... followed by a classic "Hiiiinch") Having a healthy Harris, a confident Devo and a continuing to get the job done Giles is just as much as any of the other bullpen contenders have. Add to them, wild cards like Musgrove (even with today's performance, he still has been far more dominant in a bullpen role), Gregerson (who has been able to save playoff games), Clippard, Martes... it's far from a desperate situation.
Cangegregro often used archaic metrics like bullpen ERA. But even he wasn't as foolish to post stats from 2 months ago, when a lot has changed (and will continue to change) with the bullpen makeup.
Yeah - no doubt our bullpen has faltered badly. But the claim was that it was the cause of us not being able to get on a roll *recently*. Given how well it has done this month, it was just a nonsensical statement based on a 1 game sample. In the previous 7 games to that statement, for example, the bullpen had been virtually perfect. But hey, keep moving the goalposts and making up new explanations for your statements and maybe something will stick.
I think my sample size is a lot bigger than yours. Also, the season stats are very mediocre. It's nice that they did well for a few weeks. Even so it's perfectly legit to worry about the pen. They gave up a 5 run lead last night and a four run lead today.
I am using bullpen ERA because that is what Major was going off of. Btw, not much has changed. The pen gave up a lot of runs over the last 2 games.
Oh and i thought i was canjenero. A few posts back you were still trying to push that idea. Maybe you'll get over your girlish obsession with him someday.
Paranoia alert... at this point, the cangrejero-tomstro intertwinement is the fungus of this board. At this rate, it's actually a benefit to him if they're the same person....unless he really wants to make this sort of name for himself.
Statistically, the Astros are 6 games better on the road than at home. If they make them play in Arlington, they must allow the late September series to be played in Houston.
