Don't feel sorry for him. That was his whole schtick. He heard what a bunch of people were hearing buzz around and he decided to claim he had an inside track on the whole thing. If it happened he would get unwarranted credit; if it didn't he'd keep stringing people along and finding loop holes in his claim.

Of course I don't know for a fact Melo isn't coming here. But saying Lebron is a goner after this season is a little more opinionated than saying Ryno isn't netting us Carmelo. That's pretty much been proven. If that trade was going to happen it would have happened.

I mean part of the reason I'M convinced is because I don't believe Morey is willing to mess up any of the core remaining besides Ryno. Obviously I can be proven wrong if he changes his mind.

I'm almost hoping now (with the belief that we're definitely not landing Melo this off-season) that he stays put until December and then we have a little more room to operate when all players that signed in the summer can be traded.

Word was he has connections to Knicks players, one of them likely being Lee.. At least according to some Knicks fans.

Potato is more credible than a lot of people these days, he's obviously no Woj, but he's not a fraud/troll either...he seems to have a link with some of the players like Courtney Lee (or his agent)

There is a ton of evidence suggesting that Lebron likely won't be in Cleveland next year. It's not like people are pulling that out of their ass. It's an educated guess based on what's been put out there, just like u acting like Melo for sure isn't coming here is an educated guess, an educated guess that you've made known like 50+ times in this thread.

Potato got word that Melo had been told that he'd be traded to the Knicks and put out that tweet not knowing that things would drag out this long. I find him pretty credible for Knick-related things.

Trey Fraudriguez on the other hand...

What? If this were the case, the NBA trade deadline would be irrelevant. You could apply that logic "if the trade was going to happen, it would have happened" to literally any extended trade negotiation in the history of sports.

As many GMs have explained, including Daryl Morey, deadlines matter. There are trades that you want to make, and there are trades that you feel you have to make, for various reasons. If it's in the former category — i.e. you're getting tremendous value — sure, do it whenever. Most, however, are in the latter category. And those drag out until there is a deadline to prompt action. Take the late October 2012 trade that brought James Harden to Houston, for one of many, many examples. Why didn't that happen earlier, since surely Houston had the same offer on the table and the assets available? Obvious answer: Since OKC knew it was in a disadvantaged situation in that trade, they wanted to use almost every day available to see if something else might happen in the market to improve their position. And there was no harm in waiting, considering there were no games.

You've made your position clear hundreds of times, that you think that a Ryno + spare parts deal isn't getting Carmelo to Houston. I disagree with you, but that's certainly your prerogative. However, stick to calling it what it is: your opinion. There's no need to act like anything has been "proven" on August 24 when there's zero deadline for any team involved other than the start of training camp, which is over 3 weeks away.

Dude, stop being so damn sensitive. Of course what he wrote was his "opinion." From what other perspective can he write? None of us have the answers; all of us are expressing OPINIONS..

You seem to want him to write as you would write. He is not you. Knock it off. Assume everyone is writing their opinion. If you feel he is writing as if it is "fact" and not "opinion" it is because of the clarity with which he expresses his opinion and the insecurity that type of expression stirs within you.

I think for our resident "I told you so because it didn't happen yet" poster Zoplicone, what The Cat wrote above, if spoken, would come out all Miss Othmar: "Wah wah wah, wah wah wah wah...."

It isn't an easy trade to make. His teammates want Ariza to stay, knowing Ariza would be very valuable as an expiring. Besides, maybe a deal is made but can't be consummated until......whenever; until the Rockets pay Ryan Anderson a large chunk of his salary on a certain date so that the next team is off the hook. Something.

All this "evidence" predates the latest deal. Sure, there may have been "evidence" that LeBron might leave when the Cavs were in shambles, couldn't hire a GM, and were in limbo with their starting PG.

    All of that has changed.

The news today is that the Cavs have methodically reaffirmed their position as the best in the East, have locked up a youthful and explosive PG, a scrappy Crowder, and have set their eyes on the future with BKN's first round pick. Most independent observers will tell you this was a dominant move.

    So that's the team TODAY.

What evidence is there TODAY that LBJ wants to bolt from THIS TEAM? The same one that, I believe, will entice both Wade and Melo to join? (See, for example, latest news out of NY expressing that Melo is NOW willing to look at CLE). Don't tell me how LBJ is going to leave CLE by pointing to facts or circumstances BEFORE this deal. It's inapposite.

Cleveland just became better than it was (both today and for the future). It became more likely to win a championship. And that factor (potential to win a championship) is the single most important one in ensuring LBJ will return in 18-19. Can we all agree that he is not walking away from a champion?

What are u, Cleveland's spokesman? If u want to act like Lebron is so likely to stay and Melo will go to Cleveland, then do u, I don't feel like having this discussion again.
