Might be time to call my sister in Austin and see if wifey and I can sleep on that couch of hers. We can hunker down in our 3rd floor apartment here near Beltway 8 and Memorial. It's just that we live near Buffa-mother-f***ing-lo Bayou. It didn't crawl all the way up its high banks during those horrific rainfall events the last two years. But it did get pretty high. And this might be another creature. Don't want to be sitting on an island on Tuesday / Wednesday, waiting for the water to finally recede. We did buy some non-perishable food items so that one of us doesn't kill the other and resort to cannibalism. But I'm sleeping with one eye open nevertheless.
Allison didn't have a Cat...it was just a tropical storm. Its impact was rain because it just sat over us....which is essentially the forecast for Harvey.
I'm reading your 99er response as ' would you drive to the basketball if Hakeem Olajuwon was standing there'
People aren't that worried about it until it is called a hurricane or if it hits Houston directly. I keep hearing people saying it won't be bad because its not a direct hit. I also heard someone yesterday say "Why are people worried. It ain't nothing like Katrina." A lot of people aren't taking the threat too seriously, could make a bad thing worse.
Crazy scenario of it coming back into the Gulf and restrengthening. At least these models don't show the storm making a second landfall in SE Texas.
it's obviously the reason to fill up. This storm is gonna dump so much water it's crazy. like unprecedented amounts. This is gonna suck so much and people aren't taking it seriously.
This one sucks. If we're not flooded in bad on Sunday, this will have me wondering" is it OK to get lit tonight as I won't have to go to work tomorrow or should I go to bed on time, only to wake up to a river, no work and a wasted night with my bong and cold beers?"
Anyone been to the Krogers off Shepherd and 11th? Wondering how empty its looking. Might make the trip up there in the next hour.
Lots of people there last night--the water aisle was empty, but they had big 10-gallon (or however much) jugs by the registers. Plenty of booze.
