Here is a gif of the northward shift in the track.. we are still 24-36 hours from landfall. Any more shift north/east will just make it worse for us in Houston. And if you see the dates. It is still sitting there through Tuesday. VERY DANGEROUS situation.
^^ A stalling hurricane, damn! Now forecast to reach major hurricane status (>110 mph). Heard it said on TWC this morning that a stronger hurricane tends to drift further north. I remember this happening for Rita and Ike.
This is going to be fun. I live a mile from galveston bay but thankfully my house is elevated and didn't flood during Ike. This is why we buy these jacked up trucks, amirite?
Four Houston they're saying to fill up your cars with gas, BUT STAY OFF THE ROADS!!! It makes so much sense.
Maybe fill up your cars with gas now in case there is evac soon? Stay off the roads in case the flooding has already started?
During Ike the storm surge pushed over the bridge on NASA at space center and also below the Kemah bridge which made entry to and from cities like El Lago and Nassau bay hard. Cities like Kemah and Seabrook were also hard to navigate well before the storm. This surge is not expected to be as bad as Ike's but you never know. If you are closer to League City or Friendswood, the roads may flood where the construction is happening quite quickly.
