I don't blame him, when you see what completely washed up trash like Mozgof and Noah got, you'd think a clearly superior player (at his age with his health) would demand a little more. I'm sure he's holding out for 4/80. Won't be surprised if he settles for the offered 17-18 mill though.

it looks like we're seeing less and less of guys getting that massive overpay as a result though. from all these guys that got huge contracts a couple seasons ago. If you're not a star caliber player or impact the game as such, teams are becoming perfectly fine putting out youth and being bad, rather then tieing up all their money in guys that aren't impacting the game relative to what they are asking for $ wise.

It will be interesting to see what this dude gets in the market. Years ago, he's a really high payed skill-set, but today he's too limited to be the difference in winning. What happens to this type of guy? What will it mean for future guys that focus on being a traditional center?

He doesn't seem to have enough finesse to play a grander role....

I think if he can keep up improving to his 13 pts and 9-10 rpg that would be gravy.

Twitter Fake News again. How do we fall for this stuff over and over again.

The source in the article is a single Steve Kyler tweet. He says Mavs offered it awhile ago. How is Kyler the only one to report that. Famous click-baiter

He should just sign a 3 year deal for 52 mil, after that he'll be 26 years old, in his prime. That's the moment when he should go for the MAX.

He's clearly not being offered that. Ignore Kyler's click-bait tweet that others are writing articles about, so one highly questionable tweet builds steam from fabrication to topic of the day

How does the Internet keep falling for such obvious click bait strategies

He just got a new agent. Timing is a wee bit too coincidental.

The new agent convinces Kyler to tweet it out with promises of future real news of Noel or other clients. It's a big-time agency. New agent is trying to create an impression of what real Mavs offers Noel is turning down to create market for offer sheets. Kyler complies with the Fake News request, and click-bait articles follow, which lead back to more followers for Kyler.

The only thing we heard from previous agent is "We are still waiting on a serious offer [from Dallas]," on July 18th. That quote was giving to Eddie Sefko, so how does he all of a sudden have no news for over a month but Kyler got wind of something that was offered back then?

Sefko just kept saying the Mavs are using Morey's strategy and telling Noel to go get an offer to match....which is in line with Happy Walter's the previous agent essentially saying, "No, the ball is in their court."

We've seen this with RFA negotiations before. Players/teams either sign very quickly or they do the "bring me an offer" game, with each claiming the ball is in the other's court. Dallas didn't make an offer that got to Kyler but not Seftko. But we always fall for it when someone tweets it out in low-news month of August like it did happen back in July.

Good choice for Nerlens. At least somebody learned from the Motiejunas disaster. Some desperate team will still offer him big money next summer and this way he can pressure Cuban to increase his offer in 2018.

I don't think he did. Dallas low balled him in this market (since they didnt give up anything to get him) and Rich Paul called their bluff, as expected.
