so you went from they did the trade because of the great return to

its better than getting ryno back

    kyrie >> melo
    cp >> melo
    pg >> melo

knicks are in this position because of how they treated melo

so now they have to choose:

to trade melo for ryno pkg or what ever pkg comes from a 3rd or 4th team

    OR

hostage a disgruntled star (he's disgruntled because of how the org treated him in the 1st place)

    Slightly disagree .

It's not holding a guy hostage if you are willing to trade him but he won't waive his no trade clause but for one team.

His no trade clause the Knicks gave him? He doesn't have to change it.

BS. Why the *** did they give him a NTC? Deep down they know it's a one way ticket to get-fukd-ville.

Knicks have to decide to take a little for Melo or nothing at all.

Nice try. But that's not where I went. Again, everyone loves changing the narratives to hold onto the idea of getting Melo by only giving up Ryno. My main point was that they didn't do the trade to please the star, they did what they believed was best for the team. They didn't go up to Paul George and say "Hey how would you like OKC? Is that alright with you?" They thought that was the best return they could get at that point, and yes I wouldn't like it if it was my team, but its still getting back positives rather than a contract for an older player with limited athleticism (who also plays the same position as Porzingis!) who's contract has him overpaid for another 3 years and no good prospect attached to him in the trade.

And any rebuttals please shut up about the NTC. That doesn't change the fact that Ryno is not wanted. So yeah, they'll sit on Melo and hope he changes his mind but if he doesn't they won't say "OH WE CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE, FINE LETS TAKE RYNOS HORRIBLE CONTRACT (OR SOMETHING EQUAL LIKE A MYERS LEONARD AND MORE CRAP" (which still didn't end up going through so there is that explanation)

CP was gone anyway, he can opt out and choose Houston anyway, so lets get some great value contracts, young players and a pick DEAL
Kyrie wants to be traded, who cares if its Boston we're getting a top scorer, a top 3 and D guy and a lottery pick! DEAL
Paul George is demanding a trade, he said he's going to leave next year, we can't afford to lose him for nothing, he wants LA but they're not giving us what we want, lets get young players. DEAL
Melo wants to go to Houston. We don't want to take back worst contracts. It doesn't seem like we're getting expirings, or high picks NO DEAL

And the longer they wait the less they will get for him. He would opt into that second year in a heartbeat. He isn't gonna lose money. And they will have a player that doesn't want to be there paying him 27 million dollars while trying to rebuild. They are motivated to move him. Now I don't expect Knicks to take Anderson. That would be senseless. But they want to move him before season starts so Morey and perry have some work to do.

Honestly, Phil Jackson said a lot of stupid s**t during his time in NY; but he was dealt such a bad hand to begin with. I remember that year thinking he has no chance to fix the Knicks cuz it was that summer when Melo was a free agent and I promise you he did not want Melo coming back, even said something along the lines of "Melo said he would take less money to help the roster, let him prove it" but Dolan and the fans loved Melo and they weren't going to let Phil not sign him, and Melo maxed out in every way possible with his deal.

Seems like the rumor going around is that they're demanding Gordon and maybe taking a hard line on it (That's what marc spears seems to think anyway). Not sure how I feel about that as I don't necessarily view Anthony as being more valuable than Gordon in any meaningful way.
