So the bachelor party is trying to pivot away from Galveston. 13 guys, 5 are flying in including the bachelor. None of our houses are big enough to house 13. What should we do? Quick search of airbnb and vrbo in Houston isn't yielding great results. Thought about maybe going to Austin for find a big house to rent but going west sounds like a bad idea with evacuation traffic.

Let them know I said go to Austin. I'm sure they are interested. I doubt there will be any mass evac. allison was a slow burn with just no services.

What are the chances this storm gets stronger than a tropical storm?

Spacecityweather.com covers all you need to know about this thing.

They think flights Friday and Saturday should be ok. Really hard to predict right now.

My house near Katy flooded last year. It was a nightmare. I'm going to be pissed if it happens again.

This looks like really bad flooding. Any personal suggestions for Hurricane preparedness?

Dam! I mean literally! But $8,300? I think I'm better off paying insurance premiums

yea. If you aren't in a flood prone area, you'll get ~18 yrs of flood coverage for $8300.

This is something not being talked about much but the ingredients are there for rapid intensification before landfall. This has the potential to be really bad.

Here is an excellent "amateur" video that goes in depth about what's happening with Harvey and the potential impacts.

Hope its not like Allison. That woman stayed around for way too long. Who remembers the rivers of I-10? People standing on top of 18-wheelers waiting to be rescued.

My ex-wife was working for HPD as a dispatcher during Allison and worked for 37 hrs, straight. When she finally came home she walked in and burst into tears. She told me a friend working for HFD rescued a lady off the top of her car, underwater on I-10 and all she could say was "what about my car??" Not thanks for saving my life..
