    Problem is the cap crashed this year. It didn't go up as expected. And it'll crash moreso next season. Nobody out there is vying for a one dimensional player paid like an all star.

    Something could change for sure. I don't think NYK expects a good return either. Probably just want a pick and some expiring contracts. As of now no one seems even remotely interested to give up assets for Anderson, which in 2017 because of the salary cap mishap, expirings>Anderson in terms of asset value.

    If we could have keep Lou Williams, Melo is already in Rockets now.

    Dekker probably gets it done but I doubt the Rockets were thinking about Melo at the time.

    Needed to include Lou to make numbers work. Only thing we could have probably kept was the 1st rd pick for next year, which could have proved useful in another trade.

    Nothing about this deal makes it more likely that Melo comes to Houston from NY by way of a third team. If a third team is still not on board this will not move that needle. And as you mention, NYK is definitely not taking Ryno for Melo.

    Actually, CLE has just become a very attractive destination for Melo. Look for him to expand the list of teams he would be willing to be dealt to, to include CLE.

    There's no reason for Carmelo to include Cleveland in his list if he's not sold on opting out of his contract after this season. Without commitment from LeBron, he would be wasting away on a rebuilding team.

    Rockets weren't even on Melo's list until after the CP3 trade happened, and Melo isn't a must-have anyways although I do want him badly...we still have the assets to get him, Morey just isn't willing to include them
