The natural progression of identitarian movements like BLM or the white nationalist groups is in the direction of violence. If you express sympathy for their cause, you legitimize them. I'll try to justify my take on why everyone should be blamed.

If I were to blame a group for this, then I'll go ahead and blame the Charlottesville local government for this. They're the root cause for all of this. Because of them, the stupid far right assholes got the right to assembly after obtaining their permits (maybe blame this judge). Legally, they can provide police protection and traffic control and that's about it. Judge should've denied them a permit on the basis that it has a potential security risk for participators. I don't know what the exact legal terms are but it's should've gone something along the lines of that.

The far right assholes are wrong in this because, seriously? You're gathering a bunch of people around the Southeast US to "protest" a local government decision? They didn't even protest why Lee's statue should stay up, they just went out there spreading their idiotic propaganda. As a result, someone had to die because of these attention whores. It is sad that the accomplishment of a historic American general became the symbol of White Supremacy and racism when he was against all of that (arguably). If anything, they should be FOR tearing down the statue.

The "Another group" you're talking about is well known for the havoc they wreaked up and down the west coast. Doesn't matter what their message for equality is, this group was bound to incite violence and trouble at a mass rally. They've done their jobs again on Saturday...illegally too. No way these guys should walk away without any of the blame.

You misunderstand, I never said that he condoned the violence, he condoned the anger that led to the violence. He suggested that black people SHOULD be angry about an armed career criminal fighting with cops to prevent going back to prison and ending up shot as a result. Obama legitimizing the identitarian ideology of BLM over and over again is a big part of why we saw the rise of identitarian groups and the violence that comes from them.

Now, that doesn't excuse Trump for his screw ups along the way, but it's clear that Obama was not held responsible for his actions and the blood that is on his hands as a result of his actions.
