Democracy would mean they vote on who take the shots. This ball-sharing is socialism.

Morey has leverage as long as Melo only wants to go to the Rockets. Let's not kid ourselves though. We don't have any leverage otherwise. If Melo decides to expand his NTC waive list, our "leverage" goes poof. I think Morey is willing to go into next season without Melo though. The question is though, will NYK or Melo cave in first.

Playing checkers instead of chess?? Not sophisticated? Simply PNR? All of this being said about an offense that was on pace to be TOP 5 ALL TIME in ORtg for the majority of the season.

Also, the Spurs didn't figure out the offense. They figured out the fact that outside of Harden, there wasn't a single other player that could score the basketball with any kind of consistency.

Huh? Do you think in the unforseen future, we will be better if we just keep our pick? We will just have to disagree, but I know that we were 3rd best team (record wise) in the entire league last year. And if you tell me we can add CP3 to replace PatBev, and we can get Melo to replace Ryno (Who didn't do anything all year but hit a couple 3's here and there), you can't tell me that we wouldnt be better and have a better chance at beating GS. They can have that late 2020 pick, because even if you do nothing with CP3 here, a Harden team will not be a lottery team.

Well for one NO ONE on the Warriors, under Steve Kerr is ball dominant. There offense stresses ball movement, passing, cutting, moving without the ball. They don't run pick n roll. You have to guard all five players because they are all in motion.

Unlike rockets, that's basically harden pick n roll while everyone else just stands and watch.

    2. dantoni was a innovative, offensive genius 12-13 years ago, but now it's become run of the mill.

Every team runs a facet of his offense. Practically, every team has a stretch 4 on their team.

Just look at the stats, 3 point attempts go up every year. 15 years ago, there were only two teams that averaged 100 ppg or more . This past year, only two teams averaged less than 100 ppg.

    3. You do realize that Warriors won a championship and 73 games with only ONE superstar right? Their second and third options are system/role players. That's without Durant.

Are you suddenly going to act like Gordon and Lou Williams are some scrubs? Not to mention Capela who rockets are very high on.

    4. Spurs DID figure us out. They chased rockets off the 3 point line while Spurs bigs met them at the rim, forcing them to take tough contested shots in the paint.

Again, harden had plenty of help in Lou and Gordon to take some of the scoring load.

And that was against no tony Parker, no Kawhi, Aldridge, gasol who are no longer good, and old man ginobili.

    5. Rockets had a top 3 offense because of harden. It's a "checkers" offense because often times the offense becomes too stagnant and predictable, which we all saw plenty of in the playoffs.

They rely heavily on harden to do everything and. He works too hard to score and create for others.

Again, Warriors one a championship and 73 games with only one superstar (curry). They play smart, effortlessly, they move and cut off the ball and get easy baskets.

Where as harden works harder but not smarter. That takes a toll on him, especially during a long, grueling season.

    6. I've already seen those videos. I know the plays.

It's nothing that I don't already know. Too bad they don't run it as often, it's just just Spain pick n roll over and over again.

And the second video is from 5 years ago, under mchale, not MDA.

A lot can happen in three years in the NBA. We only have three players under contract for that season. I don't know what our record will be in 2020, there are too many unknowns to safely predict anything. You are assuming confidently that we'll be a dominant team with a top record. I'm assuming nothing. That's not hubris.

If you think we'll be better off with Melo even if the pick ends up being in the 10-20 range, fine. I just don't understand assuming our pick will be low based on the information we have. That's a big assumption. Harden played all 82 games for the 15-16 season and we were a .500 team that barely snuck into the playoffs. Also, it's a bit ironic that you say we're likely giving up a low pick and not a valuable prospect like Capela, when Capela himself was a 25th pick.

And when I say Lawson was supposed to be a low risk move, I meant that hardly anyone thought our season could end up that bad. We were all expecting to be at least as good as we were the year before. That trade ended up being bad despite being low risk. How did your assumptions work out for that season? I bet you were pretty confident then too.

I am assuming that a team led by a top 3 player like Harden will always be a top 5 team in the NBA. This is a very safe assumption. You are clearly assuming otherwise if you feel a 2020 first round is worth more than Melo.

15-16 season was one that was sabotaged by Dwight. They went to the WCF before that. Even then, a pick where they barely made the playoffs is still worse than a player like Melo.

I value Capela more than a low first round pick because Capela is still a solid starter right now with a bright future ahead of him. Even then, it took over a year for him to actually get to the point where we can depend on him for the few minutes he plays each game. If we are trying to win in Harden's prime window, we want players with tangible skill any day every day then the question mark that is a low first round pick.

Assumptions can be wrong, but good assumptions based on solid facts and great odds are more likely to succeed than poor assumptions based on a cowardly fear to try and predict anything at all. Lawson we all knew the risks going in, but it was PRECISELY because it was low risk and a good assumption that fans didn't mind if it did blow up in our faces.

Yes they did. They figured out how to guard the corner three and send help to protect the paint using those same players and we didn't adjust. Wing defenders were sagging like crazy yet still guarding the corners. That was our downfall.

I love how some people are convinced a 2020 pick is what's holding up a deal getting done.
Educated guess: If including an unprotected 2020 pick with just Ryno and non guaranteed contracts gets this deal done, Morey would have done it.

I don't think anyone is saying that's the hold up (I could be wrong). I think the talk has been more of should or shouldn't it be. I honestly say add it, but as you said that isn't the hold up or at least I don't believe it is.

It's our downfall because nobody else could create after that initial pass. Our shooters can't do anything but shoot. Ego can sometimes penetrate and create, but he's not great at it. The main problem of our one star team is that if we stop that one star, our offense completely stalls out. If we had even a secondary star to pass to or swing the ball to and reset then create, that defense would not work nearly as well. CP3 alone fixes that problem for us somewhat.

I would be pretty upset if that happened honestly (losing Capela for Melo I mean), but I trust Morey to not do anything dumb, meaning he has another move up his sleeve. Then again, I am also completely fine NOT getting Melo and rolling out with both Capela and Ryno, so there's that.
