How do you know where our 2020 pick will be? We have three players under contract for 19/20: Harden, Gordon, and Nene. Gordon will be 31 and has an injury history. Nene will be 37. Are you sure you aren't just assuming everything will go right?

Spoiler alert: I'm (thankfully) not B-holic, but if this is Dream Machine then Big Rudy or Brow or KAT. Then, match that!

the Lakers gave up 2 1sts and 2 2nd round picks for a 38 yo Steve Nash with back problems, we're talking about a 2020 1st for Melo who just turned 33...the comparison does not apply

melo will be under contract until 2019 -- no way he gives up that $27M next summer, unless it's to allow us to sign another star like lebron. but in any case, we've already built up an almost-contending roster. doesn't make sense to stop here now. with anderson we have zero chance of beating GS. with melo we have maybe a 15% chance, and 50-50 if one of their big 4 goes down with injury. i'd much rather try and fail than spend the next 20yrs wondering what if (like what if we had picked up derek harper for peanuts in 1997 instead of trotting matt baloney against stockton)

I am playing the odds and the odds of a very late round pick being a player that can actually contribute significantly to a playoff team like Melo could is almost nil. I am assuming that as long as Harden is on our team, we will never have a pick high enough to get anyone of immediate value.

If u want to win a championship with GS as good as they are then u have to take risks. You have to stockpile talent. This is not the time to be hoarding a measly 2020 1st when you're 1 of the top teams in the NBA. If u can get rid of Ryno's contract now and replace him with Melo by giving up nothing of substance other than a 2020 1st then u do it.

Adding Melo gives us a better chance to compete against GS, makes CP3 staying more likely, and increases our odds of enticing Lebron to come here if he decides to leave Cleveland which seems very likely.

What you fail to realize is that with melo, rockets would have 3 ball dominant stars that want the ball in their hands, and you want a fourth star? Lol

There's only so many shots to go around for 4 ball dominant stars in a game.

Warriors on the other hand, play in an sophisticated, unselfish offensive system.

You do realize that prior to Durant, warriors won a championship and 73 games with only one star, right? They were already a championship team without Durant.

Curry and Durant are the only stars on the team. Draymond and Thompson are system players that don't need the ball in their hands to be effective.

I'm so sick of this stupid rhetoric. "Ball dominant stars"?? Name me one star that ISN'T ball dominant.....how would they become stars without the ball in their hands?? Give me a break. These guys WANT to play together, and are willing to do whatever it takes to make it work. Chris Paul didn't move mountains to get here only to pout because his touches will be less. Same with Carmelo. And also, last time I checked, WE play in a sophisticated, unselfish system too. I'm not saying we're going to beat GS in a 7 game series, but it's certainly not as lopsided as you make it out to be. Not even close.

Apparently Chris Paul plays very well off the ball. And the idea would be to get the USA Basketball Carmelo Anthony; I'm sure Carmelo knows what he's getting himself into. By now these three "ball dominant" players will do what it takes to win. CP3 and Carmelo want to win. Harden needs help; he can't do it alone.

It'll be hiccupy in the beginning, probably, but you're anticipating problems that aren't likely to be there.

    Windhorst in above video:

It's the same players on the roster with HOU/NYK & it's not compatible for a trade. Knicks will not take Ryan Anderson back. If they won't do that, there is nowhere to go. You can go all day on 3-team, 5-team, 12-team trades but if you can't find a home for Ryan Anderson, you're not going to be able to make this trade. It's become harder because Carmelo has taken the Cavs off the table. It's a difficult thing to execute.

    Cavs off the table, why?

Only he knows for sure but it's uncertainty with LeBron. He doesn't want to be traded to Cleveland. Wherever he ends up, he will want another contract a year from now. If he was going to Houston, it's not just for this year, it's the foreseeable future. He sees Cleveland, LeBron not willing to commit & I don't want to be there with them holding my rights with LeBron gone.

He has to know with LeBron.

I don't think he's called LeBron and asked if "You staying or going?" I think he's called asking "Are you planning on staying?" "Bro, I don't know if I'm staying." I don't know is not a satisfactory answer.

    Blazers?

It's a wonderful city. I don't see why Carmelo sees himself going there. Even if he were to say that, then you have to work out a trade. If I were the Knicks, I'd be demanding McCollum or Lillard. If not them, it's hard to put together a package. 45 hurdles would have to be cleared. Knicks would love if there were at least one more team they could pit off Houston.

    No other options?

There are still people that think this could end up in a buyout & walking away from his contract. He'd lose his rights to sign a contract with the team he went to & leave money on the table. None of the options are appealing to anyone. Knicks aren't happy with the options, Rockets aren't happy, Carmelo isn't happy. I don't think those situations will change in the near future.

No offense, but I've seen less hubris from Warriors fans. We're going to be awesome three years from now purely because of Harden? You can't tell me what the team will look like in three years, you can't tell me we'll be injury free, you can't even tell me who is going to own the team next year. You are a very optimistic odds maker.

If you're willing to take a chance on Melo, who is 33 years old and already on the decline, then fine. But at least admit you're swinging for the fences instead of pretending that it costs us nothing. People thought getting Ty Lawson was a low-risk move too.

I get where you are coming from, but championship teams are hard to build (look at us, the last real shot was in the 90s). It's unfortunate that we are finally a premiere team in the same era as the GSW super bros, but you take Melo (if all that's missing for the trade is the 2020 pick) and take your chances with a core of Harden, Melo and CP3 that can realistically win a ring (one injury from GSW and we could be considered second favourites to win) in the next 3 years. It's a small window, but you do it every time for the farfetched chance to win big.
