To be fair, it's not like there's a White Nationalist terrorist group that is heavily armed and occupying cities/states like ISIS for Trump to bomb. And if there were, it'd be domestic which would be political suicide to bomb your own country.

But, I do agree that Trump doesn't do enough to disassociate with the White Nationalist/KKK parties. It's quite scary. I think he needs their support politically but prior to his political career he hasn't supported them so I don't think he really sympathizes with them.

The state of our politics is very sad. I'm not old enough to remember what it was like 30+ years ago, but I don't remember the country being this divided under Bush or Clinton. There aren't many moderates in politics anymore, which is what we need. But moderates don't win elections.

I read that the driver said someone in the crowd threw a rock that hit his windshield and he was afraid of the crowd. If that happened prior to the incident I could see how his response may be justified. Ultimately, streets are for cars and not angry mobs.

Hopefully some video footage will come out that can prove or disprove this claim.

Why would Trump distance himself from white supremacists. These are his core base. Even though I don't believe Trump is a KKK member or thinks like them, there's no way he would condemn his most hardcore base because that's pretty much what's left

On Meet the Press this a.m., there was a lot of speculation that McMaster and Kelly are getting the upper hand on Wormtongue, but this story, and the deplorable (yes) performance of Two Scoops yesterday, makes me see those reports as just more wishful thinking.

There were pictures of other violent and fighting, but it's not clear who were the instigator and who were defending, if not both sides doing it. When you have violent neo-nazi and white supremacists protesting with weapons and shield, counter-protesters have to be ready to defend themselves and people should not see the resulting violent so simply as if both are equally at fault.

Twenty-year old aspiring hip-hop artist Deandre Harris moved to Charlottesville, Va., from Suffolk, Va., two years ago for a job opportunity as an Instructional Assistant in the special education program at a local high school. But nothing could prepare him for what he experienced Saturday afternoon, when he took part in a counter protest against the “Unite The Right” white supremacy marches that took place in the city.

By now, you’ve probably seen a photo of Harris that has gone viral. It was captured by Zach D. Roberts, and shows Harris being beaten with poles by a group of white supremacists.

The shocking photo immediately went far and wide, and although Harris received multiple injuries, he says that he’s thankful to be alive to tell his story.

“Me and about five of my friends were out protesting. We thought [the racists] left, but at one point they came back. Everyone was exchanging words with the group, but then the KKK and white supremacists just rushed us,” Harris told The Root in an interview.

“They were beating me with poles. I have eight staples in my head, a broken wrist and a chipped tooth,” Harris said.

Harris said if it wasn’t for his friends who noticed him under the pile of white supremacists and helping him, he probably wouldn’t be alive to tell his story. Harris is in the process of pressing charges and the photographer who took the photo is helping his mother identify the racists who took part in the attack.

 

Well, he'll get his day in court. But there is footage of him ramming his car at high speed into a bunch of unarmed people walking in a narrow street. People on the scene said he accelerated into the mass of people there to oppose Nazis. Looks very bad for the kid. Even if it was accidental, he fled at high speed, as people writhed in agony before him.

Instead of making up scenarios that would somehow even partially excuse his actions, I prefer to mourn the innocent local woman who he killed. (Be it murder or manslaughter, she is dead at 32). Hopefully the five in critical condition pull through. And hopefully, the number of Americans making excuses for Nazis in our streets will start to decline.

That's fair and no there isn't (if it come to that, we are all in trouble). But I like to think we all remember the horror of history and try not repeat it. One reason why our history class talk about the nazi but not as much about the KKK in primary school is how painful that is for everyone here, especially blacks. You don't risk giving them a chance to come to power. And that's what Trump has done and continue to do.
