I believe the podcast was recorded before today's Woj bomb

 

I'm assuming the randomness of the Woj report today had to do with the Rockets making calls AGAIN to shop Ryan Anderson (meaning there is no guarantees that a team has EVER agreed to take Ryno in a deal if they are still making those calls). The phone lines probably went dark there for a few weeks which prompted this report.

My guess is Mills/Perry came in after Phil left and upped the asking price to stall/kill the deal. The terms were likely met on the NY/Hou side, they just had to work a deal with a third or forth team, and then the Knicks made a b$%$ move, and said we change our mind... we need more picks... or something like that.

And now they came back and said "fine that will work if you can get that structure of a deal again" but now Morey still has to find a third or fourth team, and the timing will make it more challenging as more teams have solidified their rosters, and the Rockets are dealing from a real weakness with a lack of leverage.

I still think this deal is hardly likely because the Rockets are essentially needing to REWARD two teams at the very least, and I don't care about the leverage that the Knicks have or don't have that people here obsess over as a reason why this deal is "imminent"... I'm focused on the lack of leverage the Rockets have over the 3rd and potentially fourth team that is just being opportunistic... Also there is always a chance that the Knicks say no to whatever the 3rd team is kicking back to the Knicks.

Do we all remember Sam Hinkie with the Sixers??... that's the type of situation we are looking at here. A GM acting like Hinkie to try and fleece Morey for doing us a favor. If you think we are getting Melo with just giving up Ryan Anderson, and a pick.... boy..... You guys better wake the hell up if you want to live in that kind of lala land.

You better REALLY REALLY Love Carmelo Anthony if you think this deal is worth executing.

 

How many times are we going to have to keep telling you that there were 2 teams that agreed to take Anderson before Perry got there?...

 

Do you know that for a fact? Really? Show me the sources, and tell me what the Rockets were giving up in the deal. Based on my recollection of the deal, the Rockets were still looking for a fourth potential team when Perry came in and shot down the deal. You guys act like the paperwork was sent to David Stern in 2011 or something.

Also.... yeah... anyone would be "willing" to take on Ryan Anderson. Of course. Its just at what cost. Any opportunistic GM would be on the phone with Morey in a hot second because they would recognize an opportunity to be rewarded for helping facilitate a deal. That was sort of my point.

 

We're on the 2 yard line and the problem is we're calling Wildcat plays instead of handing off to a running back.

 

Grrr, Patriots got away with so much including that holding non-call.
