I don't even know what to say. It's like they want to lose and I wouldn't even be surprised if they did.
Who the hell's call is it to double steal with a lefty at bat? Is it Hinch's or Pettis'? Our team looks like a) they don't realize they're dealing major league quality fielders, and b) they can throw runs away because they were such prolific scorers before that they can just them back. Not lately, guys.
Peacock is officially our ace right now. Let that sink in. Anyone saying we don't need Verlander is insane.
I agree. And all he's doing is exercising good control and changing speeds. That's it, and he's one of the top 4 pitchers in the League at the moment they're saying. He doesn't have some trick pitch like McCullers or Devenski that either works or fails spectacularly. He doesn't have crazy movement on his pitches; just a little bit. He doesn't throw particularly hard, but he ranges from the high 70s to the low 90s and that keeps batters off balance. He's just doing fundamentals well, and he's our best freaking pitcher. AND he's not getting injured.
Peacock and Giles are the only ones trusted currently. Verlander would be an awesome addition. We would only need either Keuchel or McCullers to return to form for a championship this season.
Sometimes it's damn hard to throw a pitch exactly where you want to. If you can do that, and Peacock seems to be dialed in in that regard, you don't necessarily have to have amazing stuff.
Verlander is not coming here. They already discussed it and moved on once both sides showed what they were offering up.
