Exactly. Their treatment of him before this has been a joke.... phil in the media gossiping like tmz, and all this push for him to waive the ntc and after promising you'd move him you won't?

Btw regardless of what any NY writer says we have the leverage! Why? Because we're good... Anderson is an important piece to us even if he is overpaid and our team is fine with or without melo. Adding more pieces like EGO to this trade puts us back at square one.

I'm not of the belief that NY will eventually give in but Morey has no reason to up the offer anymore. It is what it is... we'll still be a top 5 team in the league and you'll still be the Knicks with a disgruntled star making 20 mil plus

His "value" could be high and he'd still only consider a trade to Houston.

They don't understand that sometimes you just gotta cut your losses and move on. They're doing more harm than good right now.

Help them move Noah? How? That's the worst contract in the NBA.

Nah, it's real. As in real leaks from the Knicks. It won't work though.

Folks are referring to them getting involved if a healthy player is benched for not expanding his list of teams.

They can, but it would likely cause a union grievance.

Well its well within a teams rights to bench any player for any reason as long as they fufill their contractual obligations to him and play him.

Its just really ugly and unheard of and will be a stain on this organizations regime for a while.

Scott Perry, steve mills, and james dolan will look like villains

all I am saying is that benching him or doing him like they did Marbury goes against his value skyrocketing

u can't bench him and then come to the Rockets and start demanding that they up their offer, benching him is just further evidence that u clearly don't value him

All that drama and distraction for what?

The Knicks would be doing him dirty, but I still don't see why the NBPA would get involved. Melo's not entitled to playing time.

The Knicks can just say that we're not giving them anything good and if Melo really wants to leave then he can just expand his list of teams and the Knicks will be happy to move him once they find a good offer.

I still think a deal will get done...Melo has gotten what he wanted from the Knicks pretty much every time

    Melo always wins

he wanted a trade to NY back in 2011 so that he could sign a max extension with them before the lockout...he got it

    he wanted D'antoni gone...it happened

he got a NTC and a 15% trade kicker

    he outlasted Phil

he will be a Rocket this upcoming season

The issue with benching is that it sends a bad precedent across the league and will deter players from wanting to play there. This is why the Rockets have all the leverage.

Melo has actually handled this very intelligently.

He never trashed the organization, he never was a cancer in the locker room, he has always said he wanted to be there, and his play on the court is above average. There is no justification, whatsoever, to "bench him", for the purposes of tanking.

If the Knicks don't want him to do, what they paid him a contract to do, they need to buy him out. From a professional stand point, its as simple as that. Benching a guy, instead of buying him, which by the way, makes little difference cap wise for the Knicks, is just spiteful. And that's the part that other potential free agents see, which keeps them away.

The other night Codman said the current hold up is that Perry wants Morey to unload the Noah contract for him.

But this is the front office people in here are crediting for its sudden brilliance:rolleyes:

They must be smoking the same sh*t that Perry is:rolleyes:

I hear leverage thrown around a lot.

    It is simple.

The Knicks and Rockets cannot agree on a trade.

Anthony can expand his trade list (as we all knew was possible) or he can stick with the Rockets and then the Knicks have to buy him out or keep him.

At this point I don't see any real benefit for the Knicks trading Anthony to the Rockets.

So either Dolan keeps Anthony and tries to wait him out or he buys him out.

Things have been exceedingly quiet from the Rockets side of this.... all the leaks have been from the Knicks and Anthony.

I saw Cod say that, but I just couldn't get myself to believe it. It sounds too crazy to be true. If I was Morey, I would be so fed up if that was the case that I'd tell the Knicks to not call me again unless they're serious about completing a deal. Help them move Noah? What kind of joke is that?

if the Knicks keep him and decide to bench him or pull a Marbury, then I think we'll be hearing about buyout talks by January
