Fair enough. Though who else do you put in the rotation in that situation? If I'm prepping for playoffs this year, only one of Musgrove and Martes makes the playoff roster in the pen. I think Martes is that guy this year, even though you hope he's a starter long term. In that case, I'd push Musgrove to make the spot starts. I guess the alternative is Liriano? (Inserts sighs about Verlander)
So, I missed everything but the last inning. What's the guess? Is Keuchel still injured like McCullers was, or has the other team figured him out like they did with Devenski, or did he just forget how to pitch?
Gregerson and Sipp don't make the playoff roster if it is my call. Neither does Fiers if Peacock and McHugh are pitching well. I would let Martes get the starts if/when Dallas is given more rest. In the post season I likely keep Musgrove and Martes in the pen. Musgrove has been exceptional in the pen. Martes had two horrible back to back relief appearances but has shown promise in the pen.
Let me see if I understand. McHugh throws a good game and our bullpen coughs it up. Dallas "Greg swindell" Keuchal lays an egg and the pen is strong. Nice.
I think that brings his GIDP total this year up to 9. Altuve still leading the team at 14 followed by Bregman at 12.
No more taking G280 jets to the games for the team. That's over. It's time for the owner to remind these guys they are hungry for something. Get on the bus and pull together or die trying.
Maybe Aoki was our lucky charm. Once we shipped him off, our fortunes turned. Tale of two halves. Historic pace in the first half. Second half--landed back on earth with a thud. Sigh
Perhaps GIDP% is more telling. 1) Bregman-- .160 2) Springer --.151 3) Correa-----.130 4) Altuve------.126 5) McCann---.119 6) Gattis------.115 7) Beltran----.113 So Bregman is about 50% more prone to hit into a DP than Beltran. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/housto...2017&category=BATTING+II&group=1&time=0&pos=0
