great plan! Everything is just so simple!
Can't stop at just their nuclear facilities, have to take our their existing nuclear weapons too. Since their nukes are dispersed across the country on road mobile platforms that are very difficult to identify & track, now we'll have to bomb several different hundred targets across North Korea simultaneously and it's still very likely we didn't take out every nuke. With that plan, the North Korean will surely retaliate against Seoul using their massive number of artillery & MRLS, to prevent that from happening we'll have to take out their large # of artillery & MRLS before they can be used. The only way to accomplish that is with a fairly massive nuclear first strike near the DMZ, oops unfortunately now parts of Seoul is a radioactive wasteland due to the fallout.

While we do have the most powerful military on Earth, our military it's not some kind of invincible holy army that's capable of steam rolling through any opposition with minimal consequence. Where the hell do people get this idea that we can just easily take out whatever regime just because 1) we don't like them and 2) they pose some kind of threat against us?

we've been tracking them for years.

unlike the PRC, the USA has tactical nukes and the capability to land them where we want. this wouldn't be a problem

I think it's just going to be a sneak attack in the night to take out the leadership. If that goes wrong, maybe NK attacks or maybe they just keep talking tough, who knows. If they attack then I'm sure we'll try to end it as quickly as possible but it'll be messy. Hopefully they have a plan to avoid the carnage. Maybe Kim Jong-un will choke on a piece of CIA chicken and we can avoid the whole mess altogether.

tracking what for years? The North Koreans have managed to miniaturize their nukes, so they be mating them to their ballistic missiles now. They have about 1000 road mobile ballistic missiles & extensive tunneling networks to hide those missiles. Unless the North Koreans are comically stupid, they will not install the nukes to the ballistic missiles in the open but inside their tunnels, so as a result we have no freaking idea which of those 1000ish ballistic missiles are nuclear armed. The US military have an absolutely abysmal track record at tracking & identifying enemy road mobile ballistic missiles. This is not at all surprising considering imaging spy satellites are practically useless at night and it's virtually impossible for infrared & radar spy satellites to distinguish a road mobile ballistic missile from a regular semi-truck.

The "tactical nukes" are still very powerful weapons & generate significant fallout. The smallest known active US nuclear weapon have a yield similar to what was dropped on Hiroshima, and considering the North Koreans are not complete morons their artillery are dispersed & knocking them out would require a large # of nukes and nuclear fallout around Seoul will be a very real problem.

The PRC do have variable year nukes & the ability the deliver them to anywhere in the world with high accuracy.

orders of magnitude difference is not similar yield. So either you just don't know, or are bullshitting. my guess is you don't know based on you previously telling me non existent weapons were better than amraams. Thankfully, it is easy for anyone to google the yeilds and compare numbers.

check up on some info before posting BS. 5KT compared to 15KT is not "magnitude difference"

And what the hell is with what he said today? It's like he thinks nuclear war is some kind of dick measuring contest. WTF Does he not understand the implications of nuclear war? Jesus. Threaten nuclear war to a nut job with nukes. Two mentally ill maniacs with millions of lives in their hands. I feel good about that.

“North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen," he told reporters, referring to the North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. "He has been very threatening beyond a normal state, and as I said, they will be met with fire and fury and, frankly, power, the likes of which this world has never seen before.”

If you ask which world leader said "they will be met with fire and fury and power likes of which this world has never seen before", a very easy answer is Kim Jong-un. Kim Jong-un has met his equal.

I've been saying for months that I feared Mr. trump might start a war to improve his standing with the public and squash the Russian investigation. Who would be paying attention to what he does to end the investigation if we are in the midst of a major war? Congress? During a war, Congress comes together for the sake of the nation. They would put Russia and the trump campaign's possible collusion on the back burner. Mr. trump only cares about himself. It appears to me that he is attempting to goad NK into launching an attack. Then trump could claim that he had to respond. That he hated to do it because of the untold thousands of innocent South Korean civilians being killed and maimed in the conflict, but that he had no choice.

Everyone should be worried about trump doing something incredibly stupid. The threats he made to NK today fit that description, in my opinion.
