Guess which player is 2nd in WAR (behind Altuve) in all of baseball. Harper? No. Judge? No. Sale? No Answer - Simmons (with a 63rd ranked OPS) His defense is affecting games beyond Ozzie-level?
That's insane. But to be fair to him, he has truly kicked up his offensive production (Jake/Marwin-style) by doubling his power this year without sacrificing anything. He's an .800 OPS guy now! Not a stud at the plate, but that has him in range of guys like Michael Brantley, Puig, Pedroia, Lindor (down year)--not far behind Bregman. It's also worth noting that he's tied for 10th on Fangraphs WAR, which (for no particular reason) I trust more. Maybe it's because they always seem to make more sense when I see heavy discrepancies like this one.
Adam Everett would have had a much higher significant WAR had he been able to hit worth a damn. Its not necessarily a statistic that can be looked at by itself without breaking it down further.... and its cumulative (not an average), so number of games played matters. But usually, the WAR leaders in baseball are amongst the best hitters/fielders/overall players... so it does give a reflection of who in fact are the most valuable over an entire given season.
Need Castor to post the official thread but here's the lineup for tonight. I like the decision to keep Springer out until tomorrow, no rush with him.
Is Davis getting an audition for the Tigers? Seems like they're forcing him into the lineup at this point for no other apparent reason.
This thread should be unstickied immediately. They are playing the White Sox not the Rangers of the North.
Dallas... Ugh. From looking like cy... To back to 2016 Dallas.... Hope he gets out of this post injury funk.
