Every one is horrible at war strategy. You send all 3 dragons (where were the other 2, she used all 3 of them just fine before) let them do their dragon stuff, and THEN you send in the dothraki to bat clean up. C'mon people!
Lol at discussing whether she burned all the grain. They can magically put Euron anywhere he needs to be. If they need Dany's armies to have or not have food and supplies, they can easily make it appear or disappear. I think Arya and Sansa's reunion was played just right. Sansa was the more excited of the two but they were both happy and clearly they aren't the type to have long drawn out hugs together or maybe with anyone. Jon Snow seeing Arya will likely be different. I'm glad these Stark kids are finally getting back together. I'd bend the knee for Dany. Thought they were going to get after it in the cave.
If you take a step back, and look at the series as a whole its always been about 3 major parties- -The Stark Children -The Lannister Children -Danny The story was always about the children, but subverted our expectations into thinking it was about Ned Stark, and Tywin Lannister, but their deaths are important to setting the rail road tracks for the story that their children have to tell. So it makes sense to me that all three parties make it to the end game, and have a part to play in the final chapter. So while people are noticeably wearing plot armor, I think its for good reasons because if lets say Jamie died in that battle, it would cause so many head scratching problems as to the plot that Jamie was setting up towards the end game that got left shelved for the sake of a battle casualty. There is so little time left that I just don't really see why folks would want to see a major character exit the game at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Sansa got me nervous. Keeps getting that jealous look on her face while douchenozzle Petyr is standing beside her with that damn smirk.
Cersei hasn't been thrust into danger. She's spent most of her time safely inside her home, and nobody has been willing to betray her (directly at least). Kind of crazy despite her untrustworthy nature and treatment of everyone that nobody has just said enough of this b****.
It's really baffling that cersei has any loyalty from anyone at this point. Just have to work with it. There's no reason that any of the lords would hold to her
Who would be that someone to say "enough of this b****"? The only person close enough to her right now is Euron. The Tarleys are (/were?) loyal because of that Warden of the South promise. But even if they weren't, what could they have done to her? And when?
Can't stand seeing her because I'm just waiting for her to mess something up. Best episode so far though. Battles always make for better episodes. I don't know that important people died left and right. Several tend to die at once though. This season has seen Lady Olenna, the Freys, and the Sand Snakes killed. I thought Bronn was dead for sure (which technically he could be) as it seemed set up for it. And I always feel like Missandei or Greyworm are going to die. The Ned Stark, Red Wedding, Jon, Joffery, & Sept deaths aren't every episode occurrences. I remember when I started watching this show I was told they were always killing off your favorite character, which just wasn't true. They just stick with you longer. You can really only count on a death of that 1 or 2 times in a season, even if several are killed off in the same episode.
Man, what a great episode! - Anyone else get confused when jaime was galloping full tilt on horseback at dany, only to be tackled into an ocean abyss just few feet from where he's galloping? - Arya in this meta is op and needs nerf. lmao. Sparring session with Brienne show how much Arya has improved.
Anybody could have killed her. Tyrion was close enough. Lady Olenna and Littlefinger were obviously close enough since they murdered Joffrey right in front of her. Yes, right now she seems pretty safe inside the castle unless Jaime turned on her, and now even that seems impossible as we have to assume he is going to be taken prisoner. It really is. Part of why I hate this season has been the unexpected winning of Cersei. She was completely depleted. Euron made sense (though their ship building speed and manpower didn't), but other than that I don't get how she has any loyalty or much of an army remaining. It is like they have an unlimited supply of soldiers.
How did the dothraki magically transport to highgarden? They really need to kill of Danny or John snow. This doesn't even seem like game of thrones without a main character getting killed.
They could kill off all the humans, White Walker Lannister, White Walker Stark, White Walker Greyjoy, White Targaryens. Game of Walkers with Bone Dragons
Oh I see. I didn't read the full conversation and just thought y'all were talking about now, this season. I'd say that in the past people had no real incentive to plotting to kill Cersei because 1) they thought they could manipulate her and 2) it would have been hard to do and the penalty would have been harsh if caught or implicated (see: Rains of Castamere).
It wasn't clear to me where they were. I had assumed they were close to Kings Landing since the gold had already gone through and Jamie was supposed to be escorting it himself. But I'm not so sure. They would have had to pass through the Kingswood to get to Kings Landing and I don't think they did that yet. So they must have sent the gold cart WAYYYY ahead and they were still like halfway between Highgarden and Kings Landing. That doesn't really make sense, but hey, since when has travel made since in Game of Thrones. ::Edit:: And now looking at a map, the only way the battle makes any kind of sense is if it took place in the space between Kings Landing and Kingswood. Which means Dany is pretty much right outside the gate. However she has now positioned herself between Cersei and Highgarden so I suppose she has retaken Highgarden.
They weren't in Highgarden. They were arriving near King's Landing. The distance to Dragonstone from there isn't negligible, but far closer than Highgarden. The time compression thing really seems to bother a lot of people this season. For the most part I just go with it, knowing the show omitted details (or perhaps logic) for the sake of flow. I wouldn't have minded a few scenes here and there showing the logistics of this or that, but the show apparently wants to keep with the "enemy army suddenly arriving to save / ruin the day" thing.
Tyrion saw what looked like Bronn push Jamie out of the way into river. Going to be an interesting next episode if they pull Jamie and Bronn out of the water.
