The problem here is that you have a fairly racist assumption that all white people are wealthy, or rather all wealthy people are white. That's clearly not the case. Wealthy people of all types can get preference in getting into college....that's no reason for instituting a racist policy to give students preference based on the color of their skin. Why would you discriminate against poor white people or poor Asians simply because some with the same racial background are wealthy?

I mean, you can always come up with excuses for racism....but it doesn't make it right.

If you don't think Jeff Sessions and Trump are bigots, look a their priorities. Is this the most important thing the Justice Dept. to focus on Something the courts can handle. This whole Administration is for protecting "white, Christian and straight Americans". Attacking Black and Hispanics, Muslims, Gays and Transgender.

It's still easier for an inferior white student to get into any University or Grad School (Medical especially) than a superior Asian student. Why is that?

Eliminating racism in college admissions isn't "attacking blacks and Hispanics". The fact that you view it that way suggests that you can't see beyond your own bias.

It's the same type of thing, they have quotas for how many people they want to admit per racial group and there is an abundance of qualified Asian candidates. When they fill up the number of Asian students they want to admit, they start taking others who are less qualified based on race alone. It's BS racism that needs to end....fortunately if we frame it as Asians losing out to white people, we can get the majority to agree that it's bad. Hopefully one day we'll get them to understand that it's just as bad when they are taking inferior black and Hispanic students over Asian and white students due to racial quotas.

in medicine ,a minimum of 3.8 GPA/34-512 MCAT are accounted for 50% of acceptance ,the other 50% goes for the interview, there's this stigma of Asian student doing well in their exams but under perform in clinical skills . For the
representation of various races , it can be a little deceiving , out of 10 medical students you may typically find (at least to Canada) :
    (2) Indo-Pak ,
    (1) Persian ,
    (3) Arab ,
    (1) Jew,
    (1) White ,
    (1) a very attractive Asian female ,& .
(1)the last spot ... could be anyone else or from the above.

the (1)White student + those in Blue text (Olive- Browns ) are all counted as Whites. I think beating the crap out of your kids to study harder pay dividends o_O

I love how people act like they give a **** about Asians People now.

Asians are just the crowbar and leverage against AA
Getting rid of AA is *ABSOLUTELY NOT* about getting more Asians in
It is 100% about being able to deny other groups to get more Whites in . . . . . . Period

That's what people lead with because they know that people support racism against white people because that type of racism is the socially acceptable racism of the day, the hope is that MAYBE they'll care about racism against Asian people.

It's funny how many people will line up to support racism when it is socially acceptable racism while pretending that they care about equality.

Asians have been claiming that AA policies are racist for a long time now, well before Trump. But since Asians have the lowest population among the races (white, Hispanic, black, Asian), that voice gets drowned out by the AA supporters. Yes, it is a crowbar to repeal AA. But it also shows the hypocrisy of AA. AA is racist. You cannot deny that.

Apologies, but I haven't been keeping up with this particular issue.

I thought this was resolved with the UT Supreme Court case.

    No? What gives?

My thought exactly, you said it for me. I dont see this as a pressing problem thats making the country lose its way.

Now is it good to create fairer standards that doesnt leave deserving people out? Certainly is. But there's so much OTHER things that can be fixed in the entire educational system that can benefit EVERYONE. Instead of benefitting the ones who already benefit the most.

Go ahead and finish that sentence. Explain why you are a supporter of racist policy. Imagine if everyone thought that things that might have happened to distant relatives justified racism....what kind of world would we live in?

Thats pretty much it on lots of legislations from this administration. Its OBVIOUS it doesnt come from a professional & classy place. Its very much contempt based vendettas.

Ive visited conservative sites on this issue. Its the same "black / brown people handouts" target. Little mention about Asians.

Yes. So why is this an issue they're into?

Colored people are getting KILLED by law enforcement system. No inquiries there. But gotta fight the corruption of college admissions.

    such ignorance !

Affirmative action has been around since the early 1970s, which makes it 45-46 years old.

slavery in America had been legal longer than that, ~ 87 years, B4 Lincoln's emancipation proclamation
Chinese Exclusion Action had been the law of the land longer that that, ~57 years, B4 it was repealed in 1949

it'd behoove you to think---assuming that you can---before you publicize ur ignorance !

Sarcasm is a tool frequently used during internet discussions that are unlikely to produce anything but the same responses from the same set of people

I laid it out really simply for him to understand a while ago yet he doesn't get it. He just chooses to believe in things that fit his own narrative, ignoring common sense.

Guys, Bobby is a racism denier. I applaud you all for trying, though. He's someone who has never walked a mile in the other's shoes but is willing to judge that mile all the same. He has denied studies on the effects and ongoing racism, so there is no reasoning you can do here. He isn't willing to listen with open ears.
