This is gonna sound weird but I need a club sandwhich right now...

    Golf course club houses will often have a decent club sandwich. Subway...no.

    The subway version isn't a true club sandwich. But, they call it a club sandwich and it's on sale.

    You've been killing me. I've been thinking about this sandwich all day.

    Savage's, an old place at Bissonnet and Kirby, had by far the best club sammich I've ever had. Grilled chicken, perfect bacon, real ham, avocado, lettuce, red onion, tomato. Homemade bread. A little honey mustard on the side to dip it in. I worked around Greenway Plaza back then and that was a twice a month lunch. Never had anything else there, never needed to.

    Wow. We used to go there daily, (this was where we watched the Rockets Championships) and that was by far my favorite club sandwich. We would play with the big toothpicks afterwards. Wish I could find one like that these days.

    For what it's worth, about a year back I was in Beaumont for work and one of the operations guys brought back a bunch of sandwiches from some shop near downtown. The club was amazing.

    Posted your comment on my buddies FB page because we went there so often. Best response so far:

    Wow, I was just at Marquis on Sat night, introducing some local friends to the dangers of the Texas Tea and was telling them about how we'd run across the street for food at Savage's and come back to Marquis for more drinking. The Kirby Club was always my favorite. It was a triple-decker sandwich.

    I hope you told the West U PD to go **** themselves 8 ways from Sunday, and then pissed in my old front yard around the corner from there, just for old time's sake. Or not, that's ok too.

    Nah. We know WUPD. Like it or not, they tend to walk away from nonsense.

    That said, Totally new owner, and if you haven't been in recent years? Worth at least 1 Astros viewing.
