Right...but I assume they want to stay fluid with their 40 man in case something comes up this month. they may not want to risk having to take Stassi off again.

Don't expect him to be there long. Hasn't hit well thus far in Corpus.

I might be the high man on JD Davis but he seems to be the forgotten man in this system. 60 power and 70 arm is a lot to be excited about... would like to see if he can play a passable LF.

I hate to say it, but it's really hard to find a prospect who struck out >25% while walking <10% in the minors and went on to be a good major league player. Davis has seen a jump in bb rate so hopefully he can be a poor mans Joey Gallo or a rich mans Matt Davidson, because 30 HR power with passable 3B defense is valuable.

I hope to god he's not a poor mans Gallo. That's a bad bad player.

No where near the strikeout issues in the minors that Gallo had, so they are just different types of players.

Gallo's been worth 2.4 fWAR so far this season. He's pretty good. A poor mans Gallo would a guy who walks and strikes out a bit less but hits 30 HR instead of 40.

It was actually nice to not be on here yesterday. A few notable lines on the farm from last night:

    - Rogelio Armenteros @ Iowa: 5 IP, 5 H (4 singles and a 2-R HR), 2 ER, 2 BB, 9 K
    - Akeem Bostick @ Frisco: 4 IP, 3 H, 3 BB, 4 K
    - Ronel Blanco vs. Beloit: 5 IP, 3 BB, 3 K
    - Patrick Sandoval vs. Beloit: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 6 K; 48 K, 13 BB in 37.2 IP this season

    - Daz Cameron: 2-4, 2B, 2-R HR (12)
    - Ronnie Dawson: 2-3, 2 RBI, R; 14-game hitting streak
    - Gilberto Celestino: RBI single to extend hitting streak to 8 games
    - Nathan Perry: solo HR (2); 5th-round pick from June
    - Wilyer Abreu: 2-4, 2 RBI; signed on July 2 but was eligible to play immediately, slashing .322/.397/.390 in first 16 games as a pro

At what point does Armenteros become a legit prospect?

He already is, in the same sense that Brady Rodgers was a legit prospect. He is probably going to end up as a middle reliever, but he has #4 upside.

He's already at AAA, so at this point he's never gonna become much of a "prospect". If the scouting people haven't graded you out as being big time by now, there's basically nothing you can do at that level to change their mind.

He'll get his shot, maybe this season, and then we will see if he's any good. Not every good player was a highly regarded prospect.

He hasn't been in AAA long. I doubt scouts will say he's a top 100 prospect, but usually they begrudgingly accept guys his age with a K%-BB% over 20 in AAA as a prospect.

He is 23 years old. Due to his age, he has a limited projected upside (right or wrong).

Hector Perez with another really good start. Flashing high end swing and miss rates right now in Buies Creek.

For anyone wondering how Hector Perez did today:

    6 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 6 K

Daz Cameron is now on a nice little 5-game hitting streak, which is a good way to bounce back from being hitless in 5 of his prior 6 games. He went 2-3 with an RBI double and scored a run in Quad Cities' 6-5 win over Beloit.

Thanks for the work. I'd like to see Armenteros get a shot in the pen for us this year. Seems to really know how to pitch. May be able to help us back there.

The most likely way Armenteros will contribute to the Astros is as a reserve starter in AAA next season.
