LeBron >>>>>> Kobe If you lose a NBA argument to bobbythefail then you should just quit. This is the dude who said GSW would struggle to make the playoffs the year after they won 67 games. What did they do? Went on broke the record with 73 wins LMAO
How does it shatter my position , if we have never had an all time great player not compete for a title ?
Well according to your "logic" you could take whoever you thought was the greatest player of all time and put them on the worst team of all time for their entire career and according to you it would then make them no longer the greatest player of all time. That should show you that what you are basing your opinion on is flawed. If the greatest player of all time was truly the greatest player of all time that would be true no matter what team they played for. Are you following along?
If they are the greatest player of all time they would elevate their team to be great. Do you understand that ?
I understand the words that you are saying, it's just that they are divorced from reality. You seem to think that the greatest player of all time would elevate a bunch of kids from a local middle school B team to winning the NBA championship by virtue of the one great player.....and that's really stupid. I honestly hope you realize how stupid that is. The greatest player of all time on the worst team of all time would lead to 0 championships, in your mind it would mean that the player was no longer great thus your system for judging players is laughably flawed.
Bobby said that gsw would struggle to make the playoffs after winning the chip?! Lol. I missed out on some good ish before my join date. Bobbys got htowntrill in a stranglehold now though. Hopefully he doesnt resort to starting another **** yall then thread out of frustration lol
I expected the GSW to get hit by the injuries that they avoided the previous season. Didn't happen. No one is perfect with predictions.
Lmao they would be playing with other NBA players , in a system that would ultimately make the team play at its highest level, but with out that all time great that team would be nothing . cmon man I really don't think you are that dumb to not realize that
SMH are you seriously failing to follow along in conversation this badly? Even if they were all technically NBA players, a team comprised of the worst players in the NBA and the greatest player to ever play the sport would almost certainly fail to make the playoffs at any point ever. Now, that wouldn't mean that the one great player wasn't amazing, it just means that basketball is a team game....you know, the reason why judging individual players based on team success is pants on head r****ded. If you can't grasp that concept then we're done here.
It having happened before does not have anything to do with the statement being true. That said, given your response, I think I'm starting to understand that you might have a problem when it comes to abstract thought.....I'm not sure you are capable of it. If I were to say, for example, that if you stacked 248,000,000,000 pennies on top of each other, it would be able to reach the moon.....a statement that is factually accurate, your response would probably be something like "Oh yeah? If that's true, name a time in history where someone did it!!!" As such I'm not sure we're operating on the same level here, which could cause this conversation to fail.
just to throw my own 2cents in here, I do think team success is relevant to individual greatness but it's not IDENTICAL to individual greatness. I agree with your thought experiment that the best player ever will lose if surrounded by terrible players but that team would still be better than if kwame brown was to be surrounded by crappy players because the individual greatness of that player would still elevate the team more than kwame could because he's better at bball than kwame lol He just wouldn't elevate them enough to be competitive or win chips which is why the OMG rings argument is so shortsighted and fails to take into account so many other factors. It's a team game. I think we are on the same page and agreeing, I think you just typo-ed that part or something. I just had to throw my 2cents in to say that individual greatness is relevant to team success but not identical to it.
I guess what I meant was that team success should never be the basis of anyone's case for being the best. A great player on a terrible team is still a great player and better than the good player on a great team.
If by abstract thought you mean me hallucinating and coming up with situations that have never happened , then yes I do have a problem with it . LMAO I only use actual facts to back up my arguments.
absolutely. I agree. I just think that it's an important logical distinction between saying "in no way relevant" or "not identical" team success can be a by product of so many factors (one of them being the best players greatness) but he would still be equally as great on a crappy team if you were to remove him from his championship team. If Steph Curry makes a 3 plus gets fouled by kevin love or something to take a 1 point lead in game 7 2016 and warriors win instead of Cavs, then that doesn't change how lebron performed or how great he is. He would have 2 rings instead of 3 but still be the same player If KD and steph both blow out their knees before the 2017 finals so Lebron gets his 4th ring than Lebron doesn't magically become a better player or greater. The ringz argument is dumb to some extent but still relevant in other ways. It just can't be the be all end all in a discussion of great players or else we could say robert horry > Michael JOrdan
Yeah, that's kind of what I thought and it pretty much ends the conversation. You can't play chess with someone that only knows how to play checkers.
Really, so you couldn't play chess on a computer then? Damn, I knew you had problems with abstract thought but I couldn't imagine it would be that bad. You have to have a physical chess board in front of you? Wow. I'm not even sure how you help someone that doesn't understand that ideas and concepts can still exist even if they aren't physically represented. That's really rough. Anyways, discussing your shortcomings is fun but it's pretty far off topic, so I must insist we cut that sidebar conversation off.
i can set up a meeting between @Bobbythegreat and @HtownTrill in Acres home if you guys wanna hash it out in person. I'll make sure each one of yall has a crew.
Has a chess board on a computer been seen or heard of by man ? Lay off the Crack pipe bobby Bottom line MJ>KOBE>LeBron
