Bregman and Beltran finding it at the plate could make a huge difference in October if our SP/RPs find a pulse. My thing is that there are too many "ifs" right now to feel comfortable about this team in the playoffs.
We're in a serious funk. Would've been nice to bolster the major league roster to maintain momentum and help carry us into the dog days of the season. It's pretty remarkable that we did absolutely nothing other than add another terrible arm to an already pretty terrible bullpen. It'll be a damn shame if we fail to make a long postseason run and get to wonder what if for the foreseeable future.
Of course... but not any time soon. And by then, you presume that whoever's injured is back... and whoever is underperforming due to rust is not rusty.... and that this is pretty much the team that is going into the playoffs.
Obviously we have a few studs on the DL that will make a huge difference. Not sure how many games Correa will be back for though, and this pen is really bad right now with no one injured that we know will be back. With Harris out and Luke not good, we don't have much there
Harris should be back... and if he never comes back, the pen does get better with Morton and or Peacock (or both) going there for a short series. Believe it or not, Sipp can be better... and I doubt they're counting on him, but he wasn't as bad as Peacock was at one point, and look at him now. I'm still more worried about starting pitching... have been since day one of the season... and if LMJ can't regain his earlier form, and if Keuchel has a re-aggravation or is more 2016 than 2015, well... you already know how this is going to end. Lastly... a few "studs" is still putting it lightly. The impact that having 3 MVP-caliber players in the everyday lineup is the MAIN difference between the 2017 Astros and every other Astros team in history.
