The only positive is that after today's loss, and a 2-5 homestand, they're still comfortably in 1st place in the AL. They've banked up enough to endure this and any future rough stretch.
I just can't take this team that seriously anymore with this bullpen. Hope they can pleasantly surprise come playoff time but as is this bullpen will probably cause the team to be one and done. Disappointing.
Now that's the Astros bullpen we have all come to know and love. I know we have never had bullpen issues down the stretch the last few years so this all came out of left field... Maybe Liriano can come in and finish this off.
It's hard to, Devo used too much early on and his numbers have suffered as a result. Harris put on the DL twice now and we won't know how he is for a while. Hoyt started off as a strikeout machine and then fell off a cliff. Gregerson's usefulness is about zilch now. Liriano hahahahahahahahaha. At least Giles continues to be solid.
That was a bit of a Gomez route by Marisnick...not like him. Hopefully a series against the lowly White Sox will help stop the bleeding.
Yeah Giles is basically it in the bullpen at this point. With the middle relief on the team now really need the starters to go 8 which is not realistic every night.
They have a great pitching staff that's been healthy outside Price. Unless Houston gets completely healthy they could be in serious trouble
What's so scary is that I don't trust a single pitcher in the stros bullpen right now ! I guess I'd have to say that Giles is the most reliable ! Wait did I just say that?
The crazy thing is only Chris Sale is the Red Sox only good pitcher. Everyone else sucks. But having a elite bullpens really helps.
Hinch has been average on pushing buttons. Recently, we lost of a lot of games when we have leads in late innings. Letting starters stay too long and putting pitchers in wrong innings (giving runs). We may not have the batting studs right now, but we are not holding it with managerial decisions.
