I don't feel good about any of them. Giles and Gregerson are the 2 more reliable options.

In that order of trust right now. Really think Devo needs a break. Seems like scouting reports have figured him out.

 

Not sure how a break would help scouting reports...unless he learns a new pitch over the break.

 

I guess with his tendencies and command to be more specific. Seems like batters are swinging early in the AB on his FB so they avoid being down in the count and his change-up is more in-play to be used.

 

That is true.

His command was as bad as its ever been yesterday. Reminiscint of the brief starting appearances he made last year, where he had zero confidence in catching any of the plate.

Devo's regression is a slightly underrated/undercovered development of this season. He is still expected to be the guy they saw earlier this year... who can go 2-3 dominant innings on full rest if needed. Expected to be every bit what Andrew Miller was last year.

If he can't get back to that level, this really becomes a mediocre pitching staff. Starters aren't going deep... and there is no reliable bridge guy to get the ball to Harris/Giles if Devenski continues on this road.

 

Not to mention Gattis thinking there was a force at home plate.

 

Part of my frustration is the Dodgers.

And was that truly the case?

I thought he was preparing for the tag... but when White didn't get the throw off fast, he knew it wasn't likely to happen so he stepped up (for what, I dunno... but he wasn't going to be able to tag him out... maybe stepping up avoided the possibility of a ball getting away if a collision/bad throw occurred).

 

This has been the case since the All Star game. It makes Luhnow's trade deadline failures stand out all the more.

We're a mediocre pitching staff WITH Devo pretending to be Andrew Miller.

If we can't count on Devo, then we're just plain bad.

 

Feels so much like last year ! Two runs for Stroman is like having 50 runs since he owns the Stros

 

Marwin gave them 1 of those runs screwing up on a routine play
