Just stupid. The premise of the thread is we get Melo without losing Gordon. What a way to twist the whole conversation to something it isn't about. What a dorko.
Untrue. I am fine with Harden as the second playmaker. I've stated so a hundred times. And I advocated him in that role while you and others were saying we didn't need a primary playmaker that was a better playmaker than him. You and dodo dobro are the world's worst at putting words in my posts that aren't there. As far as the low post scoring thing I'm clueless where you are coming from on that. MDA doesn't like the post up. It's not a factor. I have no idea why you think I should have listed it. Just bizarre. The stand-pat option is in the poll here. Persuade the board? 75% of us think our weak spot is interior defense and rebounding. I don't have to convince them of anything. They already see it. It's nitwits like you and dodo that think shooting will be our greatest weakness simply because you want to oppose my opinion. What a farce. Oh, by the way. It's always easy to see through my motive. Because for me it's all about winning a championship. Not about being second. Not about having fun while being runner-up and the first of the also-rans. Not about seeing my favorite players "develop". We are in win now mode. We are in win everything now mode. So you can guarantee my threads are about just that...winning a championship. Capiche?
Why do all _holic threads get derailed? He puts in work writing essays and mofos just derail it from the get go _holic, stop creating threads dude and giving these people free info Just keep your essays to the paid subscription newsletters
You're like a blister. You only show up after the work is done. Why don't you tell us what you think our weakest skill is after a Melo trade for Anderson and two ng's and what we can do about it?
Dorko huh... been waiting awhile to use that one haven't you? Good one. Are you meaning to tell me that over the past two years you haven't been pushing left and right to try and trade Capela? You can see the plot point you are building easily. Just come out and say what your grand plan is you are concocting and we can get to the point. But in case you really want to discuss the point of the thread on face value yes I voted for shooting. Melo won't be an upgraded version of Ryno. He's going to either be Melo and we would have to adjust to him, or he's going to be an overpaid 3 point shooter who probably will feel underutilized. Spot up shooters will be needed or PJ/Luc will have to really be working on their shots this offseason.
Interior defense and rebounding. I would like to see Capela be more of a "shot intimidator/shot blocker" in the paint. And a more physical rebounder. Basically Capela needs to become more like DeAndre Jordan, in this capacity. He has the capacity to do it, but he needs to overcome his stamina issues which prevent him for exerting himself at a higher capacity more of the time.
I never said I had not advocated to trade Capela. I have. And I've given very good, solid reasoning for doing so. Because up until now He hasn't proven to me he can hold down the defensive paint and rebound proficiently enough to be a championship caliber center. However he could break out in a big way this coming season and prove his mettle. I'd be fine with that. It's not about me being right or wrong about Capela, contrary to your narrative. It's about us winning a championship. But...........the odds are extremely against Capela having a break through season in his fourth season. It rarely ever happens. In the overwhelming majority of cases, player ceilings are defined before their fourth season. He'll probably be incrementally better. But he will have to buck extreme odds to have a major break out season DEFENSIVELY, which is the key for him. So I have advocated and I'm still advocating that we trade him because I'm looking at the odds and thinking about what is best for our team. My grand plan is.... ....to win a championship like I've already stated over and over. This thread is about reading what other knowledgeable posters see in this current roster and reading what they think we need to do after a Melo acquisition to put us in line to win a championship. I know what I see and believe. I want to read what other knowledgeable basketballers see and believe about this roster post Melo trade. So offer up some decent opinion commentary about what our skills weaknesses are post Melo trade. And if you can't do that then just shut up with all your bullcrap about my motives.
He has you on ignore breh Actually I feel bad for _holic, maybe slightly This was a good thread ruined from the get go...
Crazy how people think Capela is untouchable!!! Halfway stupid to think he isn't your best trade asset and won't be traded for a upgrade at any position if capable . I actually think Chandler would be just as productive in this system with this group of players. Also the basketball relationship Paul and Tyson have from past teams is worth more to this current team than Capela. So call me crazy but Holic might be on to something in regards to Capela. I do think getting cousins is far fetched tho! Capela isnt a Center you have to keep!! Asik was better here and isn't necessarily the better player either. After Melo is signed I do expect an significant upgrade at the 5.thats about it
Pretty much this. I'd say the biggest potential problem is that many of our rotation players are still mostly 1-way guys... - Harden and Melo will have to be forced to up their effort on D, this much is obvious. We know they both can in spurts, but the night-to-night consistency will be telling. - Tucker and Mbah a Moute were great pickups, but if their Js are off, they do very little on O, increasing pressure on CP3 and Harden, and possibly leading to (gasp!) iso-ball. Ariza at times in the past has been guilty of this too, but I think his efficiency/%s will be better this year, because I think we've asked him to do too much on D for the past two years, which has worn him out and contributed to fatigue/streaky shooting. Last year, Cleveland and Houston lacked the 2-way guys that GS had. Sure, neither team had four All-Stars, but the fact that the Warriors run so many guys who are strong on both ends (KD, Dray, Klay, Iggy, Livingston etc, with nobody being straight bad on one end), makes them even harder to exploit. We might have a puncher's chance against them in a series if our defenders get unusually hot for 7 games.
Would love to have a motivated Smoove at the 5 if he would defer the ball to Paul and Harden and run pnr. He is a difference making defensive force.
Smoov would be back up to both Melo and as a stretch 5. He is a proven clutch offensive player so can step up if either Beard, Melo and/or Paul are cold, especially in the biggest games. Qi is not ready for real NBA minutes, not strong enough, and Oliver can learn a ton from Smoov. Smoov is also an intimidating presence, especially on D. His playmaking IQ is off the charts. Green will not intimidate Smoov. And Noel is what we all want Capela to be, high energy and nasty to go along with his crazy athleticism and above the rim play. Capela is a little better offensively but Noel has never gotten the easy oop opportunities like Capela playing alongside Harden. Noel also plays with a chip on his shoulder and D first, D second mentality. And Nerlens can play all game at same high energy, no worries if Nene goes down.
I am convinced we are trying to catch lightning in a bottle with Xi. We control him on a minimum salary for 4 seasons. I thunk we're going to give him early run at the 5 to see how we look defensively with him in the middle.
