Trump Unveils Legislation Limiting Legal Immigration http://www.npr.org/2017/08/02/541104795/trump-to-unveil-legislation-limiting-legal-immigration
I am learning more about the specific bill, but in general I oppose Bannon's heavy-handed attempts to reduce immigration, especially legal immigration. https://www.washingtonpost.com/amph...c66362-ab69-11e6-a31b-4b6397e625d0_story.html
I do not think our immigration rate is too high currently. I'd worry a bit that curtailment of legal immigration will magnify illegal immigration. But, at least I only have policy objections to this one and it isn't for once an issue of the character flaws of our president (though, polishing his nativist bona fides was probably a plus in his decisionmaking).
So: He wants people to come into the country legally at a reduced rate == He doesn't want people to come to the country legally at all??? Flip-flop logic.
The immigration % of the population currently is almost the same as 100 years ago. I don't think that this will be a very popular plan.
With his base it will be. The attack on illegal immigration has always been a way to mask the real issue; too many minorities.
Well yes, and 100 years ago the immigrants tended to be white..... although at the time they were viewed as trash by many.
