That article is basically saying the Knicks trading him to us is a longshot. A buyout is our best hope.

I just read this article Rockets Fan.
Anthony still waiting for Knicks to make deal
[IMG]Carmelo Anthony only wishes to waive his no-trade clause to go to the Rockets

Carmelo Anthony is still intent on joining his pal Chris Paul and MVP runner-up James Harden in Houston, as the 10-time All-Star reportedly only wishes to waive his no-trade clause to go to the Rockets.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, who are dealing with their own turmoil after star guard Kyrie Irving requested a trade, have become less appealing of a location to Anthony.

    Per the New York Post:

Phil Jackson is out as president, but the franchise’s strategy hasn’t changed much. A stalemate has ensued as sources indicate Anthony only wishes to waive his no-trade clause to go to the Rockets. Not even Cleveland, which is in turmoil, is good enough for Anthony as the Cavaliers are dealing with Kyrie Irving’s trade demand.

The New York Knicks have not yet received an offer for Anthony that works with the youth movement they are trying to build.

Prior to the draft, Anthony went to the Knicks and requested a buyout. New York denied that request, and Phil Jackson said he would try to accommodate a trade instead.

Jackson, of course, is no longer with the franchise.

Anthony was reportedly dismayed over the fact the Knicks paused all trade talks involving him back in June. His camp continues to remain hopeful that a trade with the Rockets will work out.

I don't get it. Look at what we are trading away. What makes you think its anything but a long shot. I may be pessimistic but you clearly don't understand how trades work or anything about the NBA for that matter if you think we are getting Melo with Ryno and non guarenteeds.
But we'll see who's right eventually, so yeah I'll stop.

What? I don't see us getting him straight up for Anderson? Everybody knows that. Morey will have to add something or the other team in the deal will. I can't say it will happen 100% but I've been a fan since 1986 and fine through plenty of these drawn out trade situations. We don't know a damn thing the two sides are discussing but with all the facts we do know its common sense to see its a much better chance something gets than not. I just don't sit around grubbing up every possible negative thing that will happen when the odds are in the favor of all sides making it work. The one thing that does worry me isn't based on any facts we know its that the Knicks are such a poorly run organization that they might be stupid enough to hold into him which we all know is a huge mistake for them in the long run due to it making them look like crap in the eyes of other teams front offices and player agents. I'm optimistic because I've seen how these things normally play out. Its a player driven league and Morey knows more than any of us on how to handle this. So yeah I do know how it all works. Been watching for 31 years.

If he's bought out, I assume we would then keep Anderson. That would by far be best case scenario, and I think the Rockets know that, so forcing a trade for too much is not gonna happen. I just honestly don't see where RA fits with Carmelo here. He'd get 18 minutes a game at backup 4.

That could put us in a tough spot come next summer when Melo is a free agent and we don't have his bird rights.. Depends on how our season ends, if a team with cap space offers him a lot of money, I could see him leaving rather than take the discount to stay here.

I could see Melo at the 3 ryno at the 4 in stretches. Lethal 3 point shooting team for sure tho! :0
