durant missed too much time last year with injuries, and same with kawhi. Harden and Kawhi led their team to the same number of wins( Harden had the better stats). The spurs were 7-1 without without kawhi last year, yea real mvp. Kawhi only got into mvp talks last year because of a game saving block on james harden, thats how stupid the nba media is

kawhi only got into the mvp talks because of a game winning saving block on james harden, truth is the spurs were 7-1 without kawhi and harden and kawhi led their teams to the same number of wins. But harden had the better stats

You bet he will try now that he has an all-star teammate too.

They were 8 games ahead when less games were played. The win% gap decreased. Harden had business as usual games while Westbrook hit some big shots and saved the day multiple times.
It's not logical, but casual fans and media(it's all about ratings) give star players more credit for saving the team last minute than handing out a blowout.

Let's for a moment stop grouping stats into double double and triple doubles..
if that's the case one can say harden's more wins greater than westbrook averaging 2 more rebounds.

Westbrook -- 31.9 points (first in the NBA), 10.4 assists (third), 10.6 rebounds (career-high)
Harden -- 29.2 points per game (second in the NBA), 11.2 assists (first), 8.1 rebounds (career-high)

But saying he averaged a triple double sounds cooler...so there. give him the mvp. end of story.

No, the Rockets at the end of the season finished 8 games ahead of the Thunder, and then they defeated the Thunder 4-1 in the playoffs. There's no question the Rockets were a better team than the Thunder.

When did I say Rockets r not a better team? And what does playoff have anything to do with this?
I just said Westbrook finished strong.

That depends on whether you care about to account for the fact that Durant missed 20 games at the end of the season.

harden carried the rockets to 3rd seed being the only superstar and not even former superstars/all stars with him

gsw had curry, durant, green, klay, ai

spurs had kawhi, lma, gasol, parker, ginobli

I've never cared much about individual awards. I wouldn't miss it if they actually decided to scrap it.

Just like the all star voting, there is no clear objective criteria for any of the awards. It's just a waste of time. That's why I don't really understand why people get so worked up by all these MVP debates.

Morey is right. The MVP this year was a joke. Nothing to dwell upon anymore. It's time to win a ring. We have to focus on the one thing that matters now.

    Fake news.

They gave Curry MVP twice only because his team was the best team. If winning didn't count, Harden would have won.

Westbrick is the first MVP in 40 years to be on a team with less than 50 wins? And WB won by a large margin too.

MVP on average team don't usually win, or almost since it has been done only 1 other time.

    Harden got screwed twice!!!!

Not relevant to the argument I was responding to with that post (on whether Curry and Kawhi have a better case than Harden if only going by "best stats on best team").

But acknowledging that it's not just about individual stats and/or team wins, but also help or lack thereof from the supporting cast is a step in the right direction in this whole discussion.

This seems like some kind of unsolvable math problem. Player A averages a triple double after losing one of the best players in the league as a teammate. Player B leads the league in assists after switching positions and head coach. Player A finished 6th in the west. Player B finished 3rd. Player A loses to Player B in playoffs. Oh wait the problem solved itself...

Is this guy for real? The ROCKETS were not expected to finish HIGHER then the 8th seed at best and a lot had them missing the playoffs. All you're posts consists of Harden irrational bashing
