Maybe the best trade is the trade you don't make. The Astros will win the World Series and Kevin Durant will be begging to play for them next year.
So do we trade Reddick, Yuli, Springer? Who do we move to make room for them? We lose Gregeraon and Beltran next year, that's it
Here's the thing: supposedly other teams wanted out top guys right? Luhnow believed the top 10-20 guys in our system were equal to what other teams top prospects were netting. This is the speculation but I can't fault Luhnow. If anything, we now have Fisher in the lineup. That's an upgrade over Aoki. Liriano can be that lefty specialist and be that LHP.... integral part to team.
I'm fairly disappointed. They still have a good chance to advance in the playoffs, obviously...but they did little to address some concerning trends down the stretch. I was hoping for more, given the number of good prospects in the system and Luhnow's ability to replenish the farm so well.
That's what I keep coming back to...where are all these prospects gonna play? Who are you getting rid of from this lineup to create room for a guy coming from the farm?
So the Astros do a bunch of nothing and Red Sox and Yankees get better. From what I'm reading the Yankees got Sonny for injured and tainted prospects. Now we have to rely on the likes of Fiers and Morton continuing to play beyond their ability and often injured McClullers and Keuchel. This just sucks
Don't misconstrue that as anything more than posting information. I'm bummed we didn't make the big move but this is still a team winning better than 65% of their games and leading the AL by 11 games. Assuming we can weather the storm of injuries, I still believe this is a team that can win the World Series. Don't forget, there is still August to make a deal. It's not like this is the end. Yes, it becomes more difficult as we will be next to last in waiver priority...but it doesn't preclude a deal all together. We ain't done yet.
I don't understand the logic of not trading for another starter or good RP. Pitching has been an issue for awhile.
Maybe you don't understand the difference in where we were in 2013 and where we are now But if Luhnow can do no wrong then I suppose he can do no wrong (to some)
