Well according to CF posters, the Astros should just throw in the towel because we didn't do anything at the trade deadline. All is lost! There's more drama here than a soap opera. Thanks for instilling confidence in the guys we already have here. NOT!
Lunhow is taking a huge gamble here. If he's right and they make a World Series run, he'll look like a genius. If he's wrong, he may very well have wasted this city's best chance a championship over over a decade. The former could absolutely still be the case, but as a Houston sports fan, I'm obviously pessimistic.
There damn sure wasn't anyone traded today that was a Correa level prospect, and yet plenty of guys moved today that would have made us a lot better. But hey just like 2013 we have a strong farm Personally I don't give a **** about our farm if we refuse to partly use them to deal for players to help now
Come on guys, we aren't a big market like New York, Chicago, LA. We're a small market little team with big dreams. We are David against the Goliath's of spending.
Well, boo ****ing hoo. Tough ****. Those players are on the best team in the AL, we're just getting back our pitchers, who will return to form, and we're perfectly capable of winning it all But here's the main thing - I have to go to 15 ****ing games now b/c I bought that pass thing- so I'll be damned if I'm going to be some negative Nancy sitting there moping in section 134 today. Screw that ****- I'm going to be singing "Centerfield" all the way down the Hardy Toll Road, pay the ridiculous $15 parking, and scream my MF head off as the Stros wash away the ugly taste of that game yesterday out of their mouths with a full-on assault and drubbing of the Rays. Amen.
No. Can't ride that excuse. Have to spend knowing you will be getting decent revenue with playoff runs. McCullers is scary right now.
Guys I wanted a trade to happen as much as the next guy, evident in my F5 key being worn out, but we'll never know what other teams demanded for a Britton, Hand, Gray... etc. Perhaps it was too ludicrous? Just trying to see the other side in a majorly disappointing trade deadline.
Come on you get my drift. One of or more of the guys he didn't trade will turn out to be an all-star caliber player.
That's not entirely true. This is a top 10 media market. This is a market that will attend games really well if there is a winner. They should be able to withstand and maintain a payroll much higher than they currently are. They're saving a TON of money given that their young MVP core is still playing for cheap.
Is this the right time to remind everyone that the Astros are currently 2-7 vs. the Red Sox and Indians this season? and the Yankees added Sonny Gray/Todd Frazier/David Robertson...
This feels a lot like what Danny Ainge has done in the last year or two with the Celtics: acquire a ton of quality young assets, but refuse to pull the trigger on a deal that could win his team a title. Except at least Ainge has an excuse that the Celtics have almost no chance of usurping the Warriors. Lunhow standing pat makes far less sense to me.
Uhh we got Reddick, McCann, Beltran, Morton in the offseason. Name a team that did anything clos Having the third best farm system is a major reason we are winning. We'd be nowhere without having Bregman, Peacock, Devo, Fisher's, etc coming up too plug holes
I'm not getting my hopes up, but I'm still getting alerts of trades, is there a chance something could happen and hasn't been sent in yet or something?
