Since the media narrative is growing that Paul is a one year deal here (latest ESPN article about potential super teams that could form doesn't even list Houston as a possibility and builds multiple alternatives where Paul leaves here after 1 year) figured this would be relevant to see direct from Morey:
This is the difference between the trade for CP3 and the trade for PG13. CP3 WANTS to stay in Houston. PG13 never wanted OKC. Seriously, which star would want to play next to WB?
Breh http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php?threads/woj-chris-paul-wants-to-stay-in-houston.283980/ I guess we need to hear from Chris before anything is OFFICIAL.
“We’ve had high-level discussions [with Paul about his future],” Morey told The Crossover, noting that Harden’s recent $228 million extension provides a “signaling aspect” to other stars that Houston caters to its marquee players.
I really hope CP3 has a good season with us. It all depends on if Harden will accept the fact that CP3 will handling the ball at times in the clutch
A lot of pressure on MDA to make this work. I feel like all the players will buy in to what he's preaching but at the end of the day it's largely on him to keep everyone happy.
This is a non story. Paul already wanted to sign a 4 year deal here and we convinced him to take the opt in.
You just can't win with some people... CP3 specifically forced a trade to Houston in order to play with Harden. Dialogue indicates this has been in discussion for a while as well. He clearly intends to stay.
He could be diplomatic about it and he's leaving all options on the table and that he'll deal with free agency when he gets there. Paul George has made it clear he will do that, even talking about the Lakers directly although downplaying the speculation. But I take all talk with a grain of salt. Lamarcus Aldridge was ready to sign a max contract with Portland after they beat us in the first round. Ecstatic about coming back. One year later, he's upset that he's no longer the man and signs with San Antonio. You never know.
