Or we win the World Series this year anyways and Martes, Tucker and Whitley all have Hall of Fame careers for the Astros and you and your ilk look like a bunch of crying b****es.
Most every contender the last few seasons has gone out and gotten elite proven talent in a bid to win it and we're over here shopping the friggin bargain bin yet again. This sucks. The chapmans, the sales, the quintanas, the millers, the kimbrels.... God forbid we ever trade for an elite talent... We get washed up Scott Kazmir and a bag of chips.
Luhnow and the organization are not in this for a 1 year shot. They are planning for 4-5 year run. I'm so glad they are. At the end of the day it's usually not wise to overpay at the trade deadline. The more top prospects he keeps the better chance he has of some of them turning into studs. Will some of these guys end up being busts? Of course, but that's always going to be the case. We don't need every single prospect to pan out. I still believe the team as constructed can win it all.
Or the clubhouse rallies around them sticking with the team that has a .654 winning percentage. You don't know how it's going to affect them.
What if this isn't Luhnow's doing, but Jim Crane's instead?? What if he views Tucker/Fisher/Martes/Whitley as replacements for when Altuve/Correa/Keuchel/Springer leave in free agency? Hoarding prospects allows him to keep his payroll at a minimum down the line. Just a depressing thought for what's been a depressing trade deadline.
Several people reported last year that the clubhouse had a big letdown when we did nothing Now it's the same guys plus some veterans, who I'm pretty sure would rather win than have the 3rd best farm system
Remember, this team at full strength was on a 115 win pace. It wasn't that long ago. Once we get some guys healthy, get Lance and Dallas back to dominating, the bullpen will fall into place. Giles is looking good lately too.
