There was a time when our jerseys looked pretty cool. Back when it was fashionable to wear uniforms baggy. T-mac looked awesome in the Rockets uniforms and his famous leg sleeve. Picturing Yao in any other uniform is difficult. He never quite looked right in those pin striped pajamas or any of the All Star or throwbacks. But that was the beginning when they had a shiny material, had unique numbers and a unique collar. But then came the rev-30 material changes. Then the number font became plain numbers copied from the Pacers. Then the collar became a plain V-neck. Then fashion changed and baggy wasn't in anymore and our wide sleeves looked horrible. Then they tried to keep it through all the changes and it just looks outdated with a tight and fitted cut. This NIKE change is the final nail in the coffin to these uniforms. There's no way that is acceptable to anyone. There can't be anyone who is happy with just cutting off the arm loops and adding plain arm and neck trim and saying "cool, were done."
It time to go back to the championship jersey and add a grey uniform to those. Oh yeah, keep the black uniform too.
Indeed! The odd thing though is these shorter v-necks were only for the actual players, the retail authentic jerseys had the long v-cut. This short one actually makes it look much better. Also the font was awesome and I liked the shiny material. Rev30 and Nike's jersey material is horrific in itself, even worse for the Rockets jersey design. Just odd they didn't change it and people signed off on the new design.
our jerseys suck but it won't be until another couple years at the minimum to get a rebrand IMO. Probably take almost a year to get a new owner and then design team with the new owner and league approval. Sigh a new team and possibly banana boat team next year and still gonna be in these ugly jerseys lol
Wow, I completely forgot about the "shiny metallic material" the original jerseys were made out of. And forgot about the original neckline.
I think it looks horrible. When we see what they look like on players I think we will be very disappointed. In the leaked Harden photo they got rid of the Rocket loops on the side of the jerseys and replaced them with downwards-pointing arrows that don't even match the shorts in any way. I'm astonished that someone signed off on these things. Harden is one of the most polarizing athletes in sports and he's consistently left out of the top ten in jersey sales because nobody wants to be seen in public with these monstrosities. Edit: Even our own players have publicly campaigned for new uniforms. Dwight and Chandler were very vocal about a wardrobe change when they played for us. And lets not forget about Pat before the shoulders were trimmed:
Go to a Rockets home game and look at the gear the fans are wearing. The majority are wearing old school, championship era gear. I refuse to buy anything with their current logo. I have bought plenty of t-shirts and hats recently rocking the classic look. That fact alone that no one wears current Rockets gear should have been a siren sound to the team's management to rebrand and give the fans what they want.

Love the effort, but it's just not different enough from the 90s. Not risky enough. I like the side panel on the black ones, the broken on the others not so much. The logo is just not doing it for me, just a rocket around a ball. Love our current one. I like the colour mix of red and blue, but also too familiar sorry
