Nothing will be leaked from the Astros. If a trade happens, it will come out of nowhere (like every single trade Luhnow has made: Gattis, Kazmir, Gomez, McCann).

Was Luhnow known for making good trades when he was with the Cardinals?

Because in 2014, it seemed he traded too early. Now it seems he waited too long. There aren't many quality pitchers left in the trade market.

Maybe someone else should be in charge. He might lose the fanbase if the team disappoints again this year. And he might lose his stars if we keep falling short.

... in charge of making trading decisions, I mean. He's good in building the farm system.

I do not disagree with that. That said I still think we would enter the post season with a staff that ranks below the other playoff teams.

    Beltran
    Gregerson

Those are the only two free agents on our team at years end

We don't need an influx of youth from the farm next year

    Get a damn trade done
And 3 of those 4 were not drafted by Luhnow

Let's see if he will trade his "own" or not

+ Domingo Santana has 18 HR and an .870 OPS. He'd make a nice left fielder
+ Josh Hader has been a dominant lefty out of the bullpen -- 20 innings, 24 Ks, 1.00 WHIP, 0.90 ERA. He would be an incredible addition to the pen at this moment
+ Brett Phillips just turned 23 and made his debut earlier this year. Poor MLB debut, but was rocking AAA with a .940 OPS. Essentially, on par with Derek Fisher's performance and a year younger.

He's not going to lose the fanbase if the season ends in disappointment this season. The fanbase is growing and will continue to grow as long as they are a consistent playoff team... which should be for the next 3-4 years at the least.

Nah, Keuchel and McCullers have not fully recovered their form after DL. And our bullpen has worn down. Earlier in the season our hot bats have compensated for weak pitching. Even then we tended to feast on opponents' weak bullpens. I also think the league is adjusting to our hitting.

It would have taken two of those guys at least for Quintana. For what is left, Gray is only one that may take more than 1. Problem is that it is so late that Astros would likely need to find a Fisher or Martes replacement if those guys are traded on short notice. Tucker and Whitley are likely off the table. Not sure what market is for Perez, but he's the guy not likely to help soon that Astros are waving around.

One should be fine for right player as long as not Tucker or Whitley considering guys available.

Phillips was widely regarded as the better prospect and it wasn't really all that close. Now it seems like fisher is ahead of Phillips on a MUCH better team.
A little bit of an overreaction. We are lacking 2 MVP candidates in our lineup. League hasn't figured our offense out. We are a bit depleted right now. In a healthy lineup Bregman and fisher make up 2/3 of your bottom third. Now fisher is leading off. Huge difference. Our offense is going to be fine. They just can't carry our pitching right now

Give me McCutchen. I'm willing to embrace great offense all day at every bat.

One "evaluator"? Is that water cooler talk with Joe from accounting, or an actual source? I think I know the answer.

So... career 5.15 ERA as a reliever. 1.56 WHIP. Overall 5.88 ERA this year.

At least both his splits this year and career-wise, he's good at getting lefties out.

If all they get out of today is Francisco Liriano, that's a ****ing disaster.
