    It means nothing.

There is no imminent trade and there may not be one.

Knicks searching for best return, aka NOT Ryan Anderson. ;)

    ____________

SAS(the Knicks fan): [Kyrie] should be in New York. Knicks willing to offer anyone but Porzingis to get Kyrie. If I'm the Cavs, I strongly consider it & if I'm the Knicks, I try & pull it off.

SAS(the "reporter"): (Rockets/Melo) If they get Melo, they're going to the Western Conferece Finals.

    Will they get him?

It's a possibility. He wants to go there. That's his number one choice. Knicks will not take Ryan Anderson back. They want more than that.

    (D'Antoni friction) They're over that.

To a certain extent. At some point, Melo may become vocal about his frustrations, either internally or publicly. An upset star player is NOT what any sane franchise wants, especially when said player could negatively influence the young star you are hitching your future bandwagon to.

Looking for the best offer doesn't mean they'll get the offer they want. It might come down to the lesser of two evil. I wonder if the reason why we heard about a lot of different teams is because there are multiple options on the table and the Knicks have to choose one from the bunch

We all know this is a game of chicken to see who will blink first. We all know Morey has assigned a trade value for Melo already and most likely won't budge from that. Melo seems pretty set on going to the Rockets if he DOES leave NYK and with his NTC, it's unlikely he gives in. IMO, it's a simple question of how long NYK wants to hold out for since I believe that:

    1. They will eventually trade him to the Rockets
    2. Melo loses trade value the longer NYK waits

For the posters who still have some rational left with this entire Melo Trade period, I strongly recommend just to sit back and relax and see where things fall.

I'm stress free during this period because I simply don't care.

If he comes, good I guess...if not, I'm cool with it as well. Aint no amount of worrying or stressing gonna change it or make it happen faster. Just relax and enjoy the summer, get some sun and go out and enjoy life folks. You don't get brownie points for finding out about it before anyone else.

Yep. Reading the comments, Knick fans are dumb af. They say "we don't have to trade him, we can just keep him". Or "If anything, Melo's holding the Knicks hostage". Stupid smh. If the Knicks keep Melo I guarantee it'll make them look like the worst organization in sports. Your GM belittles your star player all season driving his value down, you fire that GM, promise that player a trade, then re-nigg because you don't like what you're getting in value (but you're the same team that drove his value down). I'm sure this debacle will rub Prozingus and any other superstar the wrong way moving forward. NOBODY will want to play for your team after this

That's honestly how I am. I am quite comfortable going into next season with or without Melo.

    for real.

any other offseason we would be thrilled with the moves that have happened already. If they happen to get Carjello and he decides to play like he does on Team USA, then that is just the icing on the cake of an already successful offseason for the Rockets.

Hell, I wouldn't even bother reading this thread if I didn't have to keep an eye out for people posting idiotic political crap in here (BJ and megastahr I'm looking at yall) that I have to remove.

With that said let me mention this:

    /modhat on

DO NOT BRING UP ANYTHING POLITICAL IN THE DAMN GARM.

I do not care if it just a joke, you damn well know it is gonna start a shitstorm if you do.

    /modhat off

meh ...not enough of a deterrent in my opinion. everyone already knows Melo isn't happy. I think this trade is dead. We just don't have the assets.

Dead just means they keep him the next season or two OR we wait until a team needs a PF because theirs got hurt. Personally, I don't care either which way.

Several NBA journalists/commentators have predicted over the last few weeks that this might (likely?) ends up being a buyout, which I think is a pretty plausible outcome since it is what most likely happens if the Knicks cannot find a trade that both the Knicks and Melo are happy with and they don't want him on the roster.

I think the people worried about Melo expanding his list are worried for nothing. Phil spent all of last season trying to force him out and he refused to budge. I don't think this is a situation where he just wants to be out of NY by any means possible. It seems like this has always been about playing with either CP3 or Lebron.

And if you believe some guy suggesting Melo is upset the Rockets won't make their team appreciably worse to add him NOW NOW NOW when they have zero reason to do so, pls seek help.

Stop with the negativity. The Barkley trade took forever too. I'm not saying its 100% its gonna happen but at worst its 70/30 it will. Too much smoke and the facts just all point to it happening.

Knicks fans think they run the team. Said they're gonna bench Melo if he's a Knick come start of the season and I'm just like yup it's just like the Knicks to continue this circus by benching their best player.

Fans run on passion rather than intelligence usually (a damn shame) and right now NYK fans are upset. In fairness to them however, they have lots of reasons to be pissed.

While I firmly believe Knicks aren't going to ever be happy with the return in a trade with us, and therefore feel Melo will eventually fold and expand his list, this is a very solid argument against that belief.
The last thing I needed was a little hope and now I got some.
