The Astros need bullpen help to get to and win the world series simple. It has to be Britton, Wilson, or Hand, maybe two of the three if they can.
I'd be extremely disappointed if we make 0 moves, and I don't even care about that "don't force a trade" argument. Literally every other contender is making moves, there's no reason to sit on our hands when we have one of the best teams in baseball history. It's not like the farm system is thin either. There's no way the asking price for literally every solid reliever is THAT high.
Not sure what I think about Lance Lynn. He has a proven track record and his numbers look good, but the advanced stats on the year and most projection models do not paint a pretty picture going forward for whatever reason.
Sounds like the Yankees. But Lynn, why add more questions than providing answers. It might be a good long term move for the end of the rotation, but for right now, I don't get it.
Agree. We already have 6 potential rotation guys. What do we need a 7th for? Lynn, after accounting for the NL/AL difference, is not much different than any of the guys we have. Just go get actual bullpen guys, instead of converting our starters into bullpen guys and hoping they do well there.
I'd be happy with a bullpen guy. A lot of these targets are at about the same risk level as relying on what we have to remain healthy or get healthy. Gray is probably the only guy on the market worth putting a lot of prospects into and a definitive playoff starter. No guarantees all the way around. I wouldn't fret the competition making trades. The Astros are better than anyone else in the league. Other teams are playing catch up while we still have the opportunity to massively improve our roster by just getting everyone back. The Astros are all in regardless of what moves they do or don't make. And don't trade anyone to the Rangers. **** them. Yu will walk right back to them next season.
They only gave their number organizational number 22 and another unranked prospect. So, yes, they are still in the gray hunt.
I hope we can at least get some help in the pen. I don't have any faith in what we have come playoff time and with Harris continuing to struggle with injury, it's even more of a concern.
Any chance a deal for Wilson and/or Verlander is done, and both teams are just waiting for this current series to be over? I still think Gray goes to the Yankees and Darvish to the Dodgers.
