    Melo > Ryan Anderson

    It's simple really.

this is the type of Melo I'll be expecting to see a lot of here

He's a better player than Anderson who shot 3-29 from 3 at home in the playoffs and averaged 7 points against OKC in the 1st round. It was almost 4 on 5 offensively when he was out there. Even tho the threat of his jumper would help keep the floor spread, he wasn't giving us anywhere near the type of offensive production that we needed from him. Melo is a great catch and shoot player just like Ryno, but he can also create for himself and take guys off the dribble. All Ryno could do is take 2 or 3 dribbles and try a 1-legged fadeaway like he's Dirk or pass it back out to Harden when teams didn't leave him open from 3.

Melo as a 3rd option will be deadly. Look at how he was abusing Roberson in that 1st video. Well on the Rockets, he's not gonna have the other team's primary perimeter defender guarding him. That player will have to be matched up with Harden. Melo will be able to eat against weaker defenders. Harden, CP3, and Melo all require a high level defender on them at all times. How many teams have 3 high level perimeter defenders on their team?

i see by your lewlloydfan name that you too are an old school fan - like myself...

The question the front office is asking is "How can we get a bunch of apathetic millennials to get all energized and geeked to spend money and put forth the effort to attend games..."
To which the answer is - throw a bunch of big name games on the floor and entice them with star power... such as Melo...

It's no longer about developing players and building a team... it's about star power and notoriety... who's selling shoes... who's in whatever rap video.... if you show up on TMZ - any press is good press....

Hall of fame or wall of shame - as long as they know your name...

It;s no longer a sport... just entertainment for the rich to use to fleece the masses...

What's truly funny is how people around here think they're gonna get anything of value for Ryno's negative contract... get real... one of the worst contracts in the league and we're gonna put it together with some far future draft picks and get something of value back... lol... just delusional...

Sounds like you're describing Lewis Lloyd. You should love Melo then.

Melo can bump and grind. Ryno can not.

I cant believe that was all they got for PG13... but at least neither acquisition was regarded as a negative contract... teams reportedly wanted 2 first rd picks just to take on Ryno's contract... even if the Knicks were willing to give us Melo for free - we still dont have anything to offset the cost of taking on ryno's contract - hence the need for a 3rd team.... which nobody seems interested in doing...

well during a time when half the league has little intentions on winning actual games, there's little you can do. That's of no fault to him or means he has no value. worst case scenario is rockets still have a upper level and seed and are one of the better teams in the league with ryno and in the end eventually melo will be here one way or the other

There's no point in trying to explain basketball to you, Mr. Lew-Lloyd-is-more-of-a-Hall-of-Famer-than-Yao.

I'd suggest you subscribe to Basketballholic's newsletter and learn a few things about the sport.

OP should be eviscerated for another garbage thread. This post could have been placed in any of 100 threads with no issue.

The part that's so funny is for the previous 5 or 6 years everyone kept saying how we need a stretch 4 we need a stretch 4.... Finally got one of the most highly regarded stretch 4's in the league... one mediocre season... and it's "Oh Melo is available? well let's ship out this overpaid stretch 4..." lol.... all about chasing stars....lol

We did well trading for Drexler - won a championship... we should trade whatever we have left for Barkley! 3rd star - that's the key! What could go wrong? Those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it... lol

well to be fair, when hou finally got the true stretch 4, they just had one of the best seasons in franchise history not just bc of him obviously but it shows what a difference that spot is when someone is actually a true threat, instead of having guys like smith, dmo, jones, etc acting like they're stretch 4s.

But yeah of course its about getting another star bc that's what it takes to win thanks to the likes of Clev, GS today. not really a surprise, if an upgrade is available you do it if your goal is to actually win.
