    1. Those people were already in the military prior to the ban being lifted and will still be in the military.
    2. Military commanders disagree. I'm sure you know better, though.

I'm pretty certain a bigot such as yourself said the same things about gays in the military 10 or 20 years ago. Turns out you and your bigoted friends were wrong then as well.

I'm glad to hear from the numbers you are providing the reinstatement will not have a great effect on new members of the armed services.

I continue to hope the suicide rate will drop.

LOL ignorantly calling people bigots won't help your argument be more valid. I do hope you know that.

If you don't see a difference between those suffering with transexualism and those who merely have a different sexual preference than what is considered the norm then you really shouldn't be trying to talk with the big kids.

Having been in the military, I can tell you that there's no place for that type of distraction....and don't fool yourself, tranny BS is nothing but a distraction. If you can keep your personal BS from being that type of distraction, then you should be fine in the military, if your gender identity is more important to you than being a soldier, sailor, airman, or marine, then you have no business being in the military.

they don't know that and it probably isn't true, bigot accusations are pretty powerful. Deckard called someone a bigot earlier just because they said they didn't know enough about the subject. This entire issue is rife with fascist word policing.

We are assuming though that Trans people that have served or are serving commit suicide at the same rates as those not in the military...not sure it's a safe assumption to make.

It's just the favored attack of the feeble minded. Sadly, it's VERY common these days.

Go right ahead. Don't take Trump seriously. Few do.

But you can't have one without the other, Trump's ban includes all transexuals.

The idea you have in your mind is that ALL trans people struggle with their identity, they don't. Some trans people are confident in who they are.

I'm surprised here, when Trump won you went on to say that Trump wouldn't touch the LGBT community...and now he has...and you are going to excuse it?

Transsexualism is a mental condition, so i say "struggle" with it similar to how one would struggle with ADHD...and the fact that the military bans those who have to live with ADHD doesn't lead to people crying about the decision for some reason. If you can ban those with one condition for the sake of combat readiness, you can do so for others.

I served during the "don't ask, don't tell" era and I knew many openly gay military members, the rules were in place to prevent it from becoming a distraction, they weren't out hunting down gay people. Honestly, no one cared unless someone wanted to be an ******* about their sexual preference. The rules for transsexuals would likely be used in the same manner. You can do whatever the hell you want once you get out, but while you serve, you don't need to make yourself a distraction because it's "mission first".

15,000 transgendered people in the volunteer army? Come on man... I'm not on the left or the right on this but that number is bs.

Alright, so what if the rules aren't as you say? We'll know soon enough then since there are many already in service. What happens to those people?

If the rules are as you say, and you served and I did not, then yes, this isn't much (Although Trump is definitely using it to rally parts of his base) then really not much has changed. From what I understand you can't be on active duty while 'transitioning' regardless and you can correct on that if I am wrong...

But if they are kicking out post-op people who have already transitioned and are confident in who they are, then what? If they are preventing people from serving who are trans but have not yet committed to any surgical procedures, then what?

    My bad, I meant total.

However, do you think that the suicide rate of TG people in the military is higher than that of non-military TG individuals?

Calm down. My statement should not have generated this type of name calling. I admitted I did not know much about this mental state which doesnt imply I think it is a disorder although studies have said it is. I didnt say that. I actually admitted not knowing much and you slammed me for not knowing. Holy hell. Keep putting "condition" in quotes when I did not use those words. Get over yourself

Quite the opposite- I would say that those who are open about being transgender have already demonstrated their bravery- they'd be the first people I'd want in a job that requires courage.

OK, I either pulled that number from thin air, or...

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...w-many-trans-people-serve-in-the-u-s-military

    http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...nds-transgender-americans-serve-military-con/

So is that enough Americans who have chosen to serve our country that will lose their rights by Trump's bigoted action?

I would think that if they truly wanted to join the military, and they were denied not b/c they weren't able-bodied, or of-age, but because of their gender, I would think it would cause more depression and suicide.

Sorry, I was just using logic. Probably the wrong forum for this.

Blowing off questions like "are sex change surgeries a valid military expense" as bigotry is absurd and extreme.

This would actually be interesting info to have. I do know that youth trans up to like 22 are more prone to suicide than older ones, maybe having to do with parents and family pressure?
