Unless they're going to make Porzingis available, I don't think there's anything to figure out. Those deals are garbage for Cleveland, even if Melo were willing to go there, and I think Mills/Perry already know that it's Porzingis or nothing (when it comes to Kyrie). Remember, CLE has known about Irving's request since July 7 — even before the Tim Hardaway Jr. signing and before talks heated up (yes, @SamFisher) between the Knicks and Rockets on this most recent go-round. Personally, I think the Kyrie/Knicks stories are more PR as opposed to actual substance. Once word got out that NYK was one of Kyrie's four "preferred" teams (which ultimately means nothing in his case), the headlines wrote themselves... but there's not much in the way of actual discussion.
Mills and Perry can hunt for better deals all they want, but at this point, Melo will only waive his NTC for ONE team in the NBA: the Houston Rockets.

I think running melo at the three for the majority of the minutes against most teams make sense. Especially against teams who have multiple defenders of the guard and wing. Our goal is to have one of Harden, Paul, Carmelo to be guarded by a week defender and exploiting that match up. For ex, against the spurs we would not have to worry about kawhi leonard clamping down harden as much because if they do then carmelo will exploit danny green. Now, if melo is feeling it then running him at the four and cooking slower bigs may be the way to go on some nights.
So we're talking like Melo is on the team now? Man if this trade doesn't end up materializing, this place is going to be a wild ride.
I would not call Knicks a committed franchise...... or committed to trade with us....on the contrary, they are reluctant.
Absolutely. A war zone. And in my head I'm still certain it's not gonna happen. What bothers me is not the disagreements but the attacks for me being negative about the situation, as if it's ludicrous to think that Ryan Anderson and no first rounders can't net us Melo.
