It would still be hard for me then. We have had a hole at either 1st or 1 outfield spot for so long. Moving Marwin to a single position scares me. He is so valuable in his current role. I feel like it would be a big blow to our depth moving forward.
Gotta send out good value to get good value back it's just the business. It seems like our line up is pretty deep and we could absorb the loss of Bregman pretty well. Getting a first rate ace with some years of control left would be pretty powerful. I'm not that high on top of our rotation.
Yes, but you wan't to avoid giving up talent as high end as Bregman though. He is super versatile, and very young. I would be shocked if it happened. He is an established ML'er. The Astros farm system should preclude them from having to give any of those up.
Well it probably won't happen it's all just hypothetical but someone like DeGrom is going to cost you. No.1 pitchers like that are more valuable than infielders generally even young ones with lots of potential and control. Maybe prospects gets it done but I don't think Bregman is untouchable if you're talking about someone like DeGrom.
We have the luxury of putting Marwin in to replace Bregman? I'm not going to sweat who takes over utility/bench player that much. Once Correa gets back that gives you (doesn't have to be in this order) CF. Springer 2b. Altuve RF. Reddick SS. Correa 3b. Gonzalez C. McCann 1b. Gurriel DH Beltran LF. Marisnick/Aoki/Fisher Obviously you lose something with Bregman but IMO you gain a lot with a DeGrom type of ace.
Well someone said, "trading Bregman doesn't make any sense" so I responded that my take is that he is not untouchable if he is part of a package for someone like DeGrom I'd do it. A top of the line ace with 3 years of control after this year.
I'm not comfortable with having Beltran as the DH for the stretch run. Or Marisnick/Aoki/Fisher in left.
