Especially Ariza... man has he been a complete no-show in the playoffs the past two years. Even by role player standards, I'm not sure how good he really is anymore. Definitely past his prime tho.
I guess we could argue that the leverage they have is simply that a deal hasn't been done yet? They just want something in return that they like.
The only intangible Ariza brings to this team is being a homie with CP3 and Harden..That's it. It's not like Ariza is a vocal leader like Draymond... And if we trade away Ariza for Melo, I'm sure Morey will tell CP3 and Harden beforehand and both would be fine with it.
I have a feeling Ariza will not be involved...its just not a move I see Daryl Morey making. Especially when Chris Paul was very direct about Ariza's influence in his decision to want to be in Houston. For frick's sake we re-signed Bobby Brown because he's buddies with Harden and CP3...you're telling me an actual solid role player is going to get shipped out that easy? Morey just doesn't make moves like that. Maybe the silver lining is Ariza gets bought out and re-signs with us if he's involved in a deal.
I completely agree. I think so many people are overvaluing the fact that Ariza is friends with Paul and Harden, acting like that is some kind of prohibitive factor in a trade. People should know better. Morey and all the players involved understand why guys get moved, and they will be ok with it if it means significantly improving the roster.
Except Morey has never had a situation like this. Just look at the Bobby Brown signing...and Ariza is far more significant to this team.
It's funny how Ariza was considered garbage in his first tenure here when he was younger and paid less. Now, he's getting over the hill and we're mourning his potential departure. I think he's still valuable, but with Tucker and Mbah a Moute here much more expendable. And who knows if Troy Williams can actually consistently hit the three?
No doubt. Ariza is former teammate (New Orleans) of CP and good friend. Also one of the recruiters and reasons for CP to come here. NO WAY he's being traded Not saying he's not expendable. It's just the politics of the whole situation. CP wouldn't be to happy about it
WE HAD TO MATCH ****ING SALARIES FOR PAUL!!! THE TRADE SAVED US EVEN MORE PLAYERS HAVING TO GUT!!!!!! Damn the ignorance on this site. You have bima thug doing a podcast on your own site. explains the trade thoroughly and how actually awesome it was for morey to pull off. Cap wizard. Listen to your own sites podcast. Jesus H Christ. Im tired of seeing this **** and no we have unguaranteed salaries/rights to foreign players/onuaku and future picks to get the deal done. We dont have to give up a rotation piece you dense ****s sorry for the harshness but this site man.....this site sometimes. Go re listen or if you havent go listen to the podcast of bima thug explaining the trade. You and many others in this thread obviously need to hear it.
wow you obviously dont understand why people were tired of him his first stint. We had a **** team, and he was trying to dribble drive and create offense. He is a role player. He was asked to do too much his first time around and he was trying to do things he isnt capable of and it was frustrating as hell.
I've been suspicious of Ariza being moved ever since we signed LBM and Williams. Not to mention the drop in efficiency last season. I don't know what else could move the Melo/Portland needle.
Ariza is one of my favorite players. Brings it every night defensively Was a major part of recruiting CP3. This would be horrible for him But if it meas getting LerBron I am all for it
I'd be very surprised if Ariza is gone, but the repo makes sense if you want to trade Ryno much faster.
I don't think the situations are similar enough. I don't think you can say that because Morey signed Bobby Brown to the end of the bench, he wouldn't move Ariza for Carmelo Anthony. If Morey thought there was a better use for Brown than to keep James happy, he would be gone. In Ariza's case, (if he is traded), there is a better use, bringing in a player to upgrade the roster.
Actually Ariza would be in our starting 5, a lineup of CP3 Harden Ariza Melo Capela Would have been or could still be the projected starting 5
But you don't need Ariza to make the deal work in terms of contracts. It doesn't make sense from any angle than him just being a guy people think should be thrown in to make the deal work. Remember, the Rockets and Melo have all the leverage here. I would prefer to wait it out if the Knicks want to wait it out, let things get ugly in NYK before making a deal, or force the Knicks to buy him out. The Rockets can make due during the season without Melo. I just think this is something thats really easy to believe for people that have been expecting a player like Ariza to be involved.
