Ryno by himself is simply not enough, which means Morey has to move 1 of the rotational players along with Ryno. Between Gordon, Ariza, Capella, I think Ariza may be the most expendable one among those 3. I wish we paid less for CP3.

Trevor is the key glue guy and is highly valued on the team. No way he gets moved.

I'm not sure if this is true, but even so, worth it.

New York has no leverage. No sense trading valuable players unless that changes.

Ariza is overrated IMO, so much hype surrounding an aging inconsistent 3-point shooter who's not even particularly great on defense anymore. Yeah, I'd much prefer Tucker and Luc over this guy at this point.

I'm fine if Ariza is traded as long as we get back Lee in the deal.

Lee is another contract to include in a possible LeBron sign and trade or opt-in and trade. Lee-Gordon-Tucker gets it done for LeBron next year if that becomes an option. Ariza wouldn't be available bc he's a free agent.

Finally although we would lose some defensive versatility lee is still a good player and actually a better ball handler and three point shooter than Ariza.

So yes I'd be fine losing Ariza. Because it could clear a way for LeBron.

The math can work if other players are included. Most likely the Rockets would get back more than just Anthony.

Ariza is a very solid player, but he isn't untradeable like some seem to think. The Rockets have almost dealt him several times in the past.

No brainer between Ariza, Capela, and Gordon. But nothing seems to indicate NY has gained leverage so seems like speculation at best

Him and Ryno had a string of sub par performance in the playoff. most of their games were under 8 points.

...seems like if you have multiple sources whispering different sides to the same trade talks around the same time that there may be some smoke...not that the deal will actually get done, but I'm inclined to believe there is at least 'talks'. Sounds like in principle this is:

    To Houston - Melo
    To Portland - Ariza, Rhyno
To New York either Crabbe or Turner + either Harkless or Leonard(although I think he has by far the least value)

...maybe some future first/second round picks thrown in for good measure. A pick or two + a few solid young role players(no doubt Morey is selling it as "assets" the Knicks can flip down the line for more picks) isn't a terrible haul considering how poor the Knicks negotiating position is here and those are decent role players to put around Porzingis if he takes a leap.

Portland trades some of their young SF/SG depth for a solid vet role player(Ariza is probably better suited to splitting duty with Aminu at this point in his career) and a true stretch 4. If Portland decided "to hell with defense, we are going all in on offense similar to Houston last year", then Rhyno makes some sense there. They have the second highest payroll and are a .500 team who just got swept in the first round. Why not mix it up and see if you can rebuild differently around Dame/CJ/Nurkic - especially considering Nurkic is going to command some big dollars while your still paying an exorbitant amount of money to Crabbe/Turner/Harkless. Those are nice pieces, but after paying Nurkic, you don't want a HUGE luxury bill in 2019 because of Crabbe/Turner/Harkless. At least Ariza is on a short term deal and you were already paying Crabbe what you would be paying for Anderson.

Who'd you rather lose though? Honestly. If you kept Anderson and played Melo at the 3/4 you'd have a much more solid big rotation. And with Tucker and Moute you have defensive wings to fill that Ariza roll already. Wish we could just keep the whole gang with a buyout, but Morey is smarter than I am, and he'll put it together nicely.

From just a physical standpoint I'd agree but it seems he holds the team together and has a greater value which clearly exceeds anything he actually does on the court. So he is staying friends what I gauge
