All kidding aside, I can't see a scenario where that makes any sense. Portland's contracts aren't desirable. They're just slightly more manageable than Ryno from a rebuilding team perspective (NYK).

Besides how awful a Kyrie-for-Carmelo deal is for Cleveland, and how unlikely it is for Carmelo to waive the NTC, and all the other clues... Carmelo makes at least $26M next year. In other words, the Knicks aren't sending out much more salary, if any, considering Irving only makes $18M. The team that would be accepting additional salary would be New York. Not sure why the Knicks would have the leverage, or the desire, to send out random salaries from Cleveland to Portland for their longer contracts... and likewise, not really sure why Portland would want random filler from Cleveland's bench, since they're capped out regardless.

If there's a third team involved in a Kyrie/Carmelo deal, it's a team like Phoenix that would give Cleveland the younger blue-chip piece they actually want (i.e. Bledsoe). Portland doesn't have that.
