It would remind me of the big 3 from the Celtics and how they were before Boston. KG had never won any team accolades and at best got to a western conf finals, Ray Allen hadn't really done anything at all in the playoffs, and the same for Paul Pierce, and here all those guys were on the wrong side of 30 (Pierce 30, Garnett 31, Ray Allen 32) but had a hunger to win. They go out, win 66 games in their first year together on the way to an NBA championship. That team was built in one single offseason. Our "big 3" assuming Melo would be 32, 27, and 33 years of age, and I believe CP3 is a young 32 given his size and playing style. I think Melo is a more talented scorer than Paul Pierce, Harden a more talented scorer than Ray Allen, and CP3 is certainly not just a talented scorer but a far better distributor than anything the Celtics had.
A big part of their success was how the other non big 3 Celtics stepped up to match their effort. Perk and Rondo were legit back then so much so that people would joke that it was a "Big 5"(or at least 4 1/2). They also had huge bench contributions from Tony Allen, Eddie House, Leon Powe, and Big baby. Hopefully we can recreate a similar scenario if the trade ends up going through. It feels like the hunger of the big 3 rubbed off on the other dudes and made them elevate their game.
C'mon man! We got Eric Gordon riding the pine, Clint Capela looking fine. Throw in Ariza, Tucker, Nene and the roster is looking pretty sweet.
Rose sucks either way. He will give you mediocre play making, inefficient volume scoring and non existent defense while teetering on injury or personal scandal.
Westbrook choked in the Finals years ago. He choked against GS a year ago in the playoffs. He choked against the Rockets in multiple 4th quarters in the playoffs. None of the Thunder players have proven a damn thing.
