The problem with that team was youth and inexperience. They keep them together and they are easily better than gsw and a natural grown dynasty. Wouldn't be hated. Cheap owners suck. Here's to hoping we get a great owner.
Yup, and Westbrook still couldn't get it done... I'm fairly confident George and Melo do not surpass that team...
most of NBA players are friends now days but not most of them share the close relationship between CP3, Lebron, Melo, Dwade. They'er really close to one another.
By your logic, Harden couldn't get it done either. In fact he was way worse then Russell in the finals
Wow, he said the 3 reasons to come to Houston were for work, to gain weight, and to get shot. ***k this guy.
Sounds like he hates the city of Houston and not the Houston Rockets. I do feel he's a bit irrational about that hate. Why would anyone want to live in Boston? I can't think of a single thing there besides the history...which I doubt lasts too long as an attraction once youve been there long enough.
I'd say he's tapped into some circles for sure so if he goes out of his normal approach to say "hey this is out there" I'd say its something we should absolutely assume is real. Even though with everyone in the biz, its like a d#$% swinging contest to see who can get the latest "sauces" insider report right, but a person in Bill and Zach Lowe's shoes, doesn't really have a need to fake "sauces" stories quite honestly. People tune in to his feed and podcasts for something entirely different than Woj's twitter feed. Reg this report- Doesn't shock me at all. I know that Melo is publicly saying Hou or Cle or bust, but we'd be fools to think that someone like Melo doesn't have relationship around the league to where he'd at least talk to folks about things like this. Its a human business. Humans talk. Humans are wishy washy, and humans are unreliable in alot of ways. When we face a situation, when do we not at least contemplate an easy way to just "rip off the band aid"? Expanding Melo's list to a few teams like OKC would be a good way to just rip off the band aid and be done with it. He's probably sitting there saying the same thing we are..."WTF is the holdup with Houston?" and "Do I really want to risk having to deal with a year in NY where I'm getting hounded every day about potentially being traded and get thrown under the bus by Mills & Perry every damn day?" If I was Melo I'd seriously be thinking and talking to people about just expanding my list to a few other places and being done with it. Him talking to OKC folks would make some sense.
That is fine, very few people in the business like Simmons. He also is a MASShole.... talk about a culture shock, not surprised he dislikes Houston.
I almost forgot about the period of time before 2012, or whenever it was that the New York Times championed Houston. It was very in vogue to rag on Houston prior to the amazing PR team that Mayor Parker brought in. I promise Bill wouldn't say those things now.
If I'm the Rockets I'd see how good Ryan fits in with Chris. I'm a bit biased since I am a Ryno fan but I don't think its the end of the world if the Rockets don't land Melo. I really think his shooting last season at home was an anomaly. Looking forward to discussing Rockets with you fine folk.
I absolutely do NOT think he's making it up. However, your Zach Lowe comparison is an interesting one. Zach Lowe frequently says thing on his podcasts that don't turn out to be true because he combines his own speculation with gossip from people he talks to into the league. He isn't peddling rumors, but he makes strong claims and guesses that fall through. Simmons did just last week put out that he thinks Lebron will go the Lakers with John Wall, Paul George and Boogie Cousins. He crafted a pretty big conspiracy about it.
People here seem to think the OKC threat for Melo is super real. I didn't at first, but I do think it becomes real if Melo gets tired of Morey and New York having a staring contest, faced with the prospect of being stuck on that team for training camp.
It wasn't Hardens team.... Harden was coming off the bench and was a huge part of the team's success but by no means was he what he is today nor was OKC his team.... By my logic Westbrook had a better team than what he could have with Melo and failed.
Its going to be a game of chicken for sure. Who should be more scared of carmelo being stuck on that team for training camp? Melo or the knicks?
Oh yeah ... look both of those guys sort of "think out loud" about things, and they very rarely are right. I think even they will say that they aren't Woj, they aren't going to say I'm a reporter who is putting my reputation on the line to say something will or wont happen. Its like talking hoops with your buddies, and indulging in hoops geek nonsense for an hour a day. But they do hear gossip, and its likely rooted in some level of truth. But for them to speculate vs. Woj or Shams to actually "report" on something would be totally different. I in no way would read Simmon's tweet and say "Its Happening".. its more like "oh... that's interesting.. we should probably consider that he is talking to folks like OKC." However... Simmons and Lowe are probably more plugged in than that Potatoe head guy, and half of Clutchfans is getting their news like its gospel from the guy, and pinning their hopes and dreams on it. To me.. if its not coming from Woj, Shams, Stein, or maybe Mannix... I take it with a grain of salt, and just think like a geeky fan up until that point.
