Rockets need to take advantage of Cleveland's uncertainty and New Yorks desperation. Both teams need to blow it up.

Knicks out: Porzingis, Melo, O'Quinn
Knicks in: Kyrie, Love and HOU NGs

Cavs out: Kyrie, Love
Cavs in: Porzingis, Anderson, O'Quinn

Rockets out: Anderson and NGs
Rockets in: Melo

Rockets get their man. Cleveland looks to rebuild, knowing LBJ is gone soon and gets Porzingis while taking on Anderson. NYK bet the farm trying to compete and take on Love simply to snag Kyrie. Would love this.

Unless there's a player that can't be traded until early next week, why would a HOU source tell somebody in LA that a deal will close next week? How would they know it'll close next week, why wouldn't it just close now? Not knocking Tarek just don't really believe his source.

I think the NYK are going to hold onto Melo until the Kryie situation resolves itself - it's been reported that they want a Melo + Picks deal, maybe they expect that it'll be a done deal if the expand and add Frank.

I think they want a Melo + picks for Kyrie deal the same way they want a Melo + assets for Kevin Durant deal. Of course they "want it," but has about the same chance of happening. And since CLE and LeBron have known about Kyrie's request for at least a week or so now, I think the Knicks have a good idea of where they stand with regards to any potential offer. (Also worth noting that NY still has the salaries to do a deal for Irving without Melo... if Melo won't approve a deal there, or if the Cavs don't see him as a significant asset — and personally, I think both are true — the Knicks could still substitute Courtney Lee and filler to make the numbers work.)

On Tarek, I don't know the guy, but I do think a full-time professional journalist (and one not directly covering any of the teams involved) is a lot more credible than someone like Schultz, Amico, etc. with a history of just throwing up any lie for clickbait. That said, my guess — "source close to HOU" could easily be a player that's out in LA for the summer. And from there, it gets right back to where we started 2 weeks ago — players think it's done (and eventually, they'll probably be right), but the executives running the show still have to come to terms. And around and around we go. Would love to be wrong, of course.
